You can sign up as a pinch hitter yup - just note it in your sign up (I'll edit the post to say pinch hitter writers can sign up - with a note :))

I would not put a number on how many is too many for a set - when it comes to claiming, only a few pieces, of your choice would be used though, to give an impression. The rest would be shared post claiming/matching.

So - it's your choice really, on what you send to me, and what will go up in the claims, and how much you ultimately make

Sorry for delay in responding.

Subject/header for draft emails, as per FAQ, should be formatted as - *your name*, art, draft - as it makes it easier to track the emails and means it doesn't get lost to spam ;)

You can come up with a title for your art - but it'll be for the author really to decide on a title for their fic (or for them to discuss with you - however it ends up working out once pairing has happened :))

There should be contact between artists and writers yes - the same as during a normal big bang, there needs to be contact between writer and artist (given that's the only way for them to get a copy of the written draft!)

Plus - The writer who claimed your set doesn't have the rest of it - so yes, there needs to be some contact. How much contact is up to both parties, but there needs to be some.
