10. Selections From the Canzoniere and Other Works by Francesco Petrarch
This entirely new translation includes Petrarch's short autobiographical prose works, The Letter to Posterity and The Ascent of Mount Ventoux, and a selection of twenty-seven poems from the Canzoniere, Petrarch's best-known work in Italian. They are so well written it's scary. He writes these poems about a woman named "Laura" who he has fallen in love with. About half of the poems are before Laura's death and the rest were written after, and some of the best ones are from the latter half in my opinion.
