Some of My Interests -- Because I was Tagged

Well, better late than never, right?

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between 50 and 75 interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over 75 interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much. Then, tag 5 other people.

Batman Begins - This is one of my favorite recent movies, although I can’t endorse it due to some profanity and lewdness. For a modern movie, however, it was unusually decent. Action and thriller movies can be quite captivating for me.

Charles Spurgeon - If you haven’t read any of C.H. Spurgeon’s works, you’re missing out. He was a famous Baptist teacher, called the silver-tongued orator. He spoke with zeal and fervor about a great host of topics. Though I don’t agree with everything he taught, his good balance between the sovereignty of God and the open invitation of salvation to all is refreshing.

Doctrines of Grace - Ah, a doctrine I’m in love with. It’s incredibly important to understand the unmerited favor of God. The doctrine of grace exults God’s love and mercy, and it annihilates the pride of man. When I was saved, I knew without a doubt that God had worked a miracle in my heart. There is no room for boasting in salvation. ...

Homeschooling - Being homeschooled, I’ve realized how great a blessing it is; to be carefully shielded, especially during youth, from the world’s awful influence is highly beneficial. Beyond that, I have to say that I believe that God requires parents (yes, dads too) to homeschool their children (excuse me, those of you who don’t believe in it).

Matthew Henry - Mr. Henry was a scholar and gentleman. If you read some of his commentaries, you probably have realized he was also a master at the English language. He always has many insightful comments that are applicable to life.

Presuppositionalism - I’m still learning about this truth and how it should shape our evangelistic approach. The basic idea is that God’s Word is the final authority and not man’s puny little mind-i.e. the truth of the Word is presupposed. When we go out to speak to others about the gospel, we should not try to intellectually convince them of the basic truths of the Bible, but simply present the Word as fact. We should realize that man’s mind is fallen, and avoid the myth that man’s natural mind is entirely able and willing to determine all truth given all the facts.

Singing - Um, well, I do sing. I enjoy singing along with songs that I listen to. Yet, I enjoy listening to singing even more than I enjoy performing (it’d rather just let my heart sing).

Thomas A. Thomas - Interesting name. He’s the writer who first brought presuppositionalism to my attention in a big way (in A Reason For the Hope, which was required reading at VF). After reading the book, my dad told me something interesting; this guy was his teacher on several occasions when he was in Baptist Bible College. Cool.

Extras:

Marty Goetz - Whoa, I just love this guy’s music! Many of his songs have Arminian words, but, on the other hand, many of them have paraphrased Scripture as the words. His type of music is probably my favorite type of any.

Gold - makes a good investment. Some of you should look into it.

Family - Now there’s a loaded word. First, I love each one in my family-including in-laws. I have very special and wise parents. ... One of my fondest dreams is to have a family of my own with many children-so much so that I’ve even written letters in the past to my future children (assuming I have one/some). =P (I'm odd--I know.)
