I suppose it's quiet for the moment. A question, then. About alcohol.

Why do you drink it? Who do you drink it with? And when did it start becoming a social...obligation?

You've just done quite well at it.

Are you alright?

It's the remembering part that I'm terrible at.

I'm fine. Too many things happening at once.

There are, certainly. Although things seem to have calmed down somewhat this morning.

Do you need an ear?

An- oh. No. You've been through most of it. But it just seems like everything happened all at once. And by the time I was aware of the situation, it had already diffused. I'm not really used to being so unaware.

I suspect I'd be in the same boat as you had Chief Stildyne not contacted me about the body.

I do think it was a situation handled best by fewer people, but I also think we're very fortunate no one simply went out and killed Detective Hoffman. Even if Agent Kay had had to kill him out of self defense, it would have looked badly.

I would have preferred It this way. Not so...individual. More gets done if we help each other.

That is true, but in this situation, if we had all gone out to try to deal with Detective Hoffman, I suspect he would have been overwhelmed and reacted violently. When trying to reason with someone, it's best that they have one person to focus on.

Well, but there have to be other things done that no one else can see. Someone has to stand behind and make sure that everyone else is alright.

Oh, yes. I actually consider that one of the most important things a person can do, and it's often overlooked.

It is. But everyone seems to want to have all the attention.

Well. It does feel nice. To have been the hero.

Why? If there are so many people helping, why should one person get all the attention?

They shouldn't, of course, but some ways of helping just seem more...thrilling than others.
