blind faith

so yesterday i was driving out in the country and i was driving on a long country road. I was probably going around 55-60 or so and a farm truck pulled out in front of me and proceeded to drive slow. I had to wait for a good point to pass him where the road allowed me to see far enough ahead to where i could pass the truck safely. Not only did I had to wait for this opportunity, i had to wait for there to be a gap in the oncoming traffic. Soon enough I found my opportunity and I took it, I passed the truck and proceeded to pass. After I did this it dawned on me what had I just did.

Even though there are the yellow lines on the road to be used as a guide-line, to let us know when it's safe to pass, i payed no attention to them. I first discerned that it was safe for me to pass, because i could see way ahead of me to see that there wasn't any oncoming traffic to collide with if i was in the other lane. So I went for it and I passed. I did however realize that the dotted line was in fact in my lane, but i didn't base my decision on that. Why? Because those lines are put there as guidelines. If i was unable to discern for myself I could rely on those lines to determine when it was safe to pass or not. However it doesn't take a genius to side with the road engineers to know when it's safe to pass.

Yes, my pass was completely legal, but i didn't pay attention to what the law said. My judgement agreed with the law.

I chose not to rely solely on blind faith. Why? Because whenever I make the most logical decision in a situation, it coincides with the laws of my religion.
