Well... shit... I guess the only way he could successfully block the stuff being in the auction would be to accuse them of being in possession of stolen goods, right??

Not nice.

If a shitty ol' tooth can be put up for sale, a few bits of McCartney clothing sold to benefit this woman's grandchildren seems no big deal to me.

But... I dunno. ??

This can't possibly be the first time something like this has happened. So, I wonder if these items have some significance to Paul or if he's just become incredibly litigious in his Golden Years.

Well, if nothing else, it lends wonderful provenance for the items. Mccartney has apparently demanded the items be returned.

If the family manages to retain them, they'll be worth even more with Paul's acknowledgement that they actually belonged to him.

It all seems a bit off, and posthumously accusing Rose of theft seems a little harsh to me. ??

If these do eventually go up on the auction block (and I hope they do), Paul trying to get these things back will raise the price, I think. Bidders might be of the mind, if Paul was so anxious to get these things back I must have them for myself!

I think he should just let it go, and let the family do what they will with it. I mean -- if they had kept it in the family he wouldn't have thought twice about any of these items. So, what's the big deal now?

I hope they do, too. I always tend to wonder what degree these decisions are actually Paul himself... and how many are his legal teams just taking action where they feel... obligated?? The dude is busy, man... that's why he has 'people'.

More speculation, but. You know...

In any case, it seems like an overblown heist accusation.

Overblown heist indeed! LOL.

And, for what? Some articles of clothing, and a couple of scribbled down lyrics. HEISTING: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! LOL.

Well, I guess if Paul believed that Linda and Rose didn't have the kind of relationship that his former wife would give him a few of Paul's belongings. He would feel 'justified' going after these long forgotten things of his.

From SHOUT! The True Story of the Beatles, Page 349

"We heard from Rosie how different Linda was. We hardly recognized Paul once she'd got hold of him. He started to put on weight - and he got so scruffy. I'll swear he didn't wash his hair for three weeks at a time. He never shaved, never wore anything but this old Navy overcoat." -- Margo, one of the gate birds outside of Cavendish

Margo doesn't specifically state what Rose told them, but I imagine it must've been less than favorable towards Linda. Then again, with everything associated with the Beatles take this with a grain of salt.

Well, again, he's lent the items credence by claiming them. Mistake number one.

The call is going out that Paul wouldn't want families of ex employees selling his shit. Newsflash: all employees who are holding Beatle vintage items are going to die, and many of their heirs don't give a shit about the Beatles per se. If I happened to inherit a shirt known to be worn by Errol Flynn... I'd sell it in a NY minute. I don't give a rats ass about Errol Flynn, and there are people who would pay good money for that shirt.

The auction isn't black marking Paul's reputation, the family is making a bit of cash, and the person buying the items will be looking to preserve them and take care of them. So what? Let it be. No one is losing anything.

PLUS... we aren't talking of truly earth shattering Beatle items here. Like a stolen Hofner?

I absolutely agree with you on all you said.
He did not miss them...so why can't he just let them sell it to have some money for their kids.

Overreacting. Yoko seems to be a good model for him apparently....usually the witch is the one who stops auctions and such.

I don't think it's nice either, and I wonder if it's retaliation for that story about Linda I reference above getting out.

Huh. No, not familiar with the Linda story. Looked around a bit, and didn't find anything. ;)

Thanks, Parlance! Wow, that's interesting. My first thought was 'Wow, Linda had PMS just like everyone else!'... then 'Awww. Rose was loyal to Miss Jane... how sweet.' It does beg the question whether there was any open animosity... but. Who knows? And does make a person wonder why Linda would hand any clothes over... lol.

Regardless, though. Rose is dead, and the whole situation comes off very petty to me whatever the reason may be.

Very odd!!

LOL.

Maybe, that's why Paul is trying to get this stuff back? If Linda and Rose had more of a I'm the lady of the house and your the hired help relationship instead of a more friendly one. Maybe, he thinks Linda wouldn't give away these things. It's all speculation. It doesn't seem like she took these things with the intent of making a buck. If that were the case, she would've sold these items decades ago when she was alive and kicking.
