I hadn't considered they might be John's, since we've seen other pics of Paul with glasses. I'm one of those who thinks Paul might be the guy on the bike in that photo from July 6, 1957 of the Quarrymen on stage, and he's wearing glasses.
We discuss the jacket in that thread. It's so hard with B+W photos because exposure and filters can affect the tone/appearance of color so wildly. I don't think it out of the realm of possibility that it is the same jacket.
As for Paul being chubby, that guy in the pic is at an angle so it's hard to judge. Also, when I see pics of Paul around that time - a couple of them are in that thread - I often think of how by today's standards he doesn't look so much chubby as average.
So, you're of the opinion that it's Paul in the picture?
I don't know. It could very well be because we know they were introduced to each other here. I think that makes people more inclined to want to believe it is Paul. I never noticed this guy until you mentioned it.
