John Lennon for Sale
Equipment used by John Lennon in the studio he built and where he recorded 'Imagine' is to go under the virtual hammer in an online auction.
The collection comes from Ascot Sound Studios, based since 1970 in the grounds of Tittenhurst Park, the Georgian manor that the former Beatle owned with Yoko Ono.
Items available include microphones, tape machines and Ringo Starr's coffee percolator, the Evening Standard reports. To be held on May 11, the auction is expected to raise £300,000 ($500,000). A mixing desk from Abbey Road studios is also up for sale.
Lennon later sold the Berkshire pile to his drummer pal, who lived there until the late '80s. The house was the site of the Fab Four's last photo session in 1969.
While the current owner of the lot has decided to remain anonymous, auction organiser Hamish Jackson advised that the equipment was still in working order, though that may not affect the price much.
"Anything involving the Beatles will always be popular," he said. "My father ran an auction in 1980 of stuff from Abbey Road, and a roll of toilet paper which had 'Property of EMI' stamped on every sheet sold for £500. A few years ago, the same roll was on eBay for £30,000."
