Paul McCartney Is Dandy

Paul McCartney has fulfilled his "personal ambition" - by being immortalised in the last ever issue of the famous comic The Dandy.

Bosses of the children's comic recently revealed that the December 12 issue will be the last ever printed in paper format before the title moves online, which prompted McCartney to write to them pleading to be included in its pages.

The singer revealed how he had told NME in 1963 that it had been one of his life goals to be pictured in the publication, writing: "The Dandy was a favourite comic of mine when growing up in Liverpool and each week I would look forward to the exploits of Desperate Dan and his other comic book colleagues."

"I feel a little sadness that I see its final issue is appearing in December," he added, reports Contact Music. "In 1963, in theNME, when asked what my personal ambition was, I replied - to have my picture in The Dandy! I hope it's not too late!"

McCartney's wish has now been granted, and he will appear in a strip with the comic's most famous character, Desperate Dan. Speaking about his cameo, print editor Craig Graham said: "When the decision was taken to stop printing The Dandy and take it online earlier this year, it really was a case of now or never. Sir Paul wrote a lovely letter to us, wishing The Dandy well and hoping it wasn't too late to make an appearance. How could we refuse?"

Paul McCartney is reportedly working on a new album, the follow-up to this years' collection of covers 'Kisses On The Bottom'. Producer Ethan Johns recently told NMEthat he had been in the studio with him, along with Mark Ronson. Adele producer Paul Epworth is also reported to be working on the record.
