hodge podge

I haven't posted here in a while. So this is just a mixed up jumble of the thoughts and such I have this morning.

Morbidity- A week or so ago, I was hit with the absolute cetainty that, at some point, I will end. Worse ye, my parents will end. I think I posted on this one. The crises is over, but not the effects. I am really not sure entirely how to deal with this.

Coming home- This is a mixed bag. I miss everyone so very very much. I cannot wait to see all the people whom I love so dearly. On the other hand, I am really nervous about returning to developed country. I'm not entirely certain why, but the idea does get my butterflies going. It is going to be a whirlwind and exhausting trip. Also, for some reason, the closer I get to going home, the harder it is for me to hang onto my relatively new self confidence. I'm working on this one. I know I am not older, fatter, stupider, or more pathetic in the US than I am in Zambia. And here, I have learned to accept and appreciate myself as well as live in my own company. I'm not sure why going home would make that harder.

John Denver- I have had this song in my head for days. I remember too a distant bell/ And stars that fell/ Like the rain out of the blu-uu-uu-ue/ When my life is through, and the angels ask me to recall/the thrill of it all/ I will tell them I remember/ tell them I remember/ tell them I remember you

Teaching- I have been on stage since I was 9 years old. I have nearly lawys known that theatre would be my life. In high school some of our guys who were major stars on the schools American football team auditioned for a musical on a dare. They all got parts and didn't know that they could say no if they did it before rehearsals started. They did a great job, and they got bit by the theatre bug. They came back and auditioned for the next show, the competition one act play. Most got roles, and several won acting awrds at competition. I knew with absolute certainty then, that I would teach. I wanted to be the person who introduced new students to the beauty, wonder, and inspiration of theatre! This, by the way, confuses a LOT of people at university level. They are mostly trying to be professional theatre practioners and are only getting teaching certification as back up because it is so hard to go professional in theatre. Few people understand a performer sith some skill who actually WANTS to teach. From the sounds of things, a few of those would be professionals who did not want to teach, are teaching.

Collection- I am a novice at Pueblo Pottery. But about two summers ago, I was able to take a trip with my mother to Santa Fe. I fell instantly in love with this art. I have my own tastes and I am learning (just starting to learn) about the families of popular artists, and the different styles of the different tribes. I have already found a website I like and there is a piece that I am absolutely in love with. It is a Warren Coriz piece AND it has a turtle on it. http://www.pueblodirect.com/pueblopreview.html Not only am I in love with the piece, but Warren Coriz is a newish artist with a famous family name and a famous teacher. So this piece is likely a really good investment too. I have the money to buy it, but I really need to keep hold of the money since I have some very large expenses coming up very soon. *sigh* but I WANT it. I think I am going to e-mail the dealer and ask how long pieces tend to stick around. i could do it at the end of September, but that will probably be too late.

Health-Blood sugar is still under control. It has been since at least January. I am very pleased with this. Blood pressure is acting up again. Probably for two reasons 1) I have started drinking coffee and 2) since it has gotten colder, I have not bee swimming, and I have not really replaced that exercise with anything. I seriously need to find something else that I will do on my own.

Love life- doesn't exist so that's a short post

School- I managed this year. There have been some good and some bad. It seems as though every year, I start off nervous but believing that I am a good teacher. And every year I end seeing all the things I did wrong or did not do right and questioning wheather or not I should be teaching at all.

World news- Is the world really growing in stupidity and hatered, or have I simply been hiding in the love and intelligence of my friends? I am truely saddened by what I hear on the news.

World visits- this year. Just THIS year. I have been in 12 countries on three continents. (of course four of those were only in the airports). At the end of next school year, I will be free to look for a new country to live. I thnk I am going to. It is amazing to me how open the world is to me. I have been sayng that I am going to move to Europe next, but I might try for Asia just because I ahve not been there yet. Korea and Vietnam both have good reputations as places to live and teach.

I guess that's everything for right now. I will be with my Daddy in the US in less than a month. It has been a highly surreal year.
