Betty Plotnick is still one of my favorite writers in any fandom ever. Her version of Nsync is pretty much my definitive version of Nsync too. "Be Your Own Best Friend" is, imo, amazingly amazing even though I never cared for Trickyfish and actually shipped Timbertrick.
I was rereading that and realized that if I recast BYOBF in the WNBA, it would be a Diana/Lauren story with Diana as Chris, Lauren as Lance, Sue as Justin, and Penny as Joey. And it would be amazing even though I actually ship Sue/Diana.
