Has anyone else picked up a copy of Adverbs (Daniel Handler's latest) yet? I was reading the second chapter (Obviously) and had to laugh as the narrator mentions a friend of his named Garth and his short-term relationship with a girl named Kate. In The Basic Eight, I loved all of Kate's references to the difficulties that she and Garth went through at the beginning of their relationship -- and I love Daniel Handler for referencing it in this book!
