Frank Warren
(the creator of PostSecret) came to our school today to share with us
why he started this project, his own secrets, as well as secrets that
have been censored out of the books he’s published. He started this
whole project because it was one of his crazy ideas, but later realized
that this was more than just a crazy idea. He realized how freeing and
how much the revealing of secrets connected each and every one of us as
people, showing us that we are never alone. There’s always that someone
who is willing to listen to you no matter how deep or dark or silly your
secret is.
I’m sure there’s more that he said at the talk, but I’m currently
just putting off studying for my Ignatius Loyola class. But, in short,
his entire talk was really thought-provoking, I guess. As if his talk
was not moving enough, there were a bunch of extremely brave students
who were willing to share their secrets to the entire audience, aka the
entire Loyola community. Some of those secrets were probably not very
easy to share (cases of rape, suicidal tendencies, coming out, etc), so I
give them lots of kudos for that.
Which, makes me think.
Do I have that same courage to tell someone my secrets?
I can tell you this: I’m a coward. And no one really needs to know what’s on my mind.
…which probably defeats the entire purpose of PostSecret.
Yes, I’m a troll. U mad? :P
