Baekhyun shows up at the appointed place at 11am. He guesses he’s just really excited to eat, so excited that he even wore his favorite purple plaid shirt with his old but best pair of black jeans. He’s lucky that only mornings are cold; during the rest of the day it’s sunny, and it starts to get chilly around 6pm.
Baekhyun is so excited that he decides to sit somewhere and wait for Kyungsoo to appear, which happens at 12pm sharp. He learns that Kyungsoo is a punctual person (and that he’s just plain desperate for coming one hour in advance).
Kyungsoo is wearing a burgundy colored sweater, and it looks lovely with his jeans and black boots.
Kyungsoo approaches Baekhyun, who is looking fixatedly at him and taps his shoulder, asking for them to enter the restaurant now.
He chose an Italian restaurant, and Baekhyun is sure he never ate at somewhere like this, though he sometimes makes pasta for lunch.
“Are you enjoying the food?” Kyungsoo asks after Baekhyun takes the first bite and he looks down at his Alfredo Sauce pasta and smiles.
“Yes, I am. You?” Baekhyun asks back and Kyungsoo smiles too, his mouth forming that shape of a heart Baekhyun finds really endearing to look at.
“Yes, their Pesto Shrimp pasta is my favorite,” Kyungsoo says, twirling some pasta on the fork and placing it in front of Baekhyun. “Want to try out some?”
“No, I’m-” Kyungsoo shoves the fork in Baekhyun’s mouth and laughs at the face Baekhyun makes.
Baekhyun ends up smiling too.

This morning decided to rain, heavy drops of water falling from the dark sky. Nevertheless, Baekhyun heads to the coffee shop, craving for a hot cup of something and to see Kyungsoo. He wears his raincoat and holds a big umbrella to protect his head and body; caring is just never enough.
“Hello Baekhyun, you came earlier than the usual today,” Sehun says when Baekhyun steps inside the shop. “Christmas is in a week; we put a special menu of holiday drinks. You can check it, since I noticed how you like to vary what you order.”
Baekhyun takes a seat and looks at the piece of paper in front of him; there are around ten different drinks for the holidays.
“I think I’ll have the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate one,” Baekhyun says to Sehun who’s standing right next to him cleaning one of the tables. The kid nods and leaves to go to the kitchen. Baekhyun looks around; he is indeed quite early today, but he was just afraid he wouldn’t arrive in time.
He patiently waits for his drink and notices that Sehun got distracted, flirting with some hot costumer with a skin color that must make many jealous, forgetting about him. Baekhyun rolls his eyes and turns his face to see Kyungsoo smiling at him. Baekhyun jumps in his seat.
“You surprised me.” Baekhyun puts a hand on his chest and inhales deeply.
“Sorry, I saw you here and came to say hi.” Kyungsoo sits down and to Baekhyun’s surprise Sehun appears at the table holding his drink and Kyungsoo’s tea.
Baekhyun sips his cup of hot chocolate, oh hazelnut, it’s one of Baekhyun’s favorite.
“I was wondering if you’d like to visit my laboratory today.” Kyungsoo plays with fingers and Baekhyun doesn’t notice the small flush coloring his cheeks; he’s too surprised to notice anything. Of course, Kyungsoo mentioned his work a few times already and Baekhyun could notice how excited he gets when talking about it, how his eyes shone when he told him that he wanted to be able to help humanity with his research.
“Most of my co-workers aren’t there; they’re on vacations with their families. So you don’t need to worry about being reprimanded by any superior. I guess only my assistant will be there,” Kyungsoo adds and looks at Baekhyun, waiting for an answer.
Baekhyun opens his mouth but closes it. Isn’t it his chance? Why is he hesitating? He pushes his protesting thoughts aside and accepts it.
“What about your family?” Baekhyun asks, more worried than he thought.
“They passed away a long time ago,” Kyungsoo tells and drinks his tea.
÷
Kyungsoo told him to come by 4pm and gave him a map which is not really necessary; he knows the way to the place already.
He enters the main hall and knocks on the door Kyungsoo told him was his laboratory. The door opens and Baekhyun is not surprised to not see Kyungsoo opening it. He’s more surprised about to see Luhan standing there, looking at him like they’ve never met before, even if they didn’t actually talk. Luhan, the same guy he sees sometimes walking around the streets, near the night clubs and motels and drug points. Baekhyun looks around; this is not a joke.
“Hello, are you looking for someone? I don’t think you’re allowed here,” Luhan says and Kyungsoo appears behind him.
“It’s alright Luhan, he’s my friend.” Kyungsoo motions for Baekhyun to enter the room. “You can go Luhan; you said you have a family meeting to attend. Send them my regards.” Luhan nods and leaves the room holding his backpack.
Kyungsoo heads toward one stand full of vials, beakers and other glassware, full of substances with different colors. Baekhyun follows him and stays next to him.
÷
“This is basically my whole research; I wish to help as much people as I can with it,” Kyungsoo says, rubbing his eyes. He’s usually tired because of the long nights he stays awake searching and searching, and last night was a tough one. He couldn’t fall asleep at all. He wonders if it was because of the lunch with Baekhyun or the sudden idea of inviting him to come to his laboratory. He’s not sure, but he closes his eyes, even forgetting that Baekhyun was there with him.
He’s really not sure, especially when his line of thoughts and wonders are broken by a press of lips against his own. He opens his eyes and sees Baekhyun backing away, eyes wide and gaping at himself.
Baekhyun mumbles some inaudible phrases and lost words, before saying I’m sorry, I have to go before Kyungsoo could utter a single word.
Kyungsoo is not sure about what Baekhyun thought would be his reaction and if this is why he ran away, but he’s sure about one thing: he wouldn’t get mad at him for what he just did. He wouldn’t scream at him. He really wouldn’t.
But now he can’t tell him this because Baekhyun just vanished.
Baekhyun decides he should just stay home for a few days. Christmas is in a week, as Sehun reminded him earlier, and he doesn’t want to be in the middle of all the people who are shopping for it. He reassures himself about it; it’s not like he doesn’t want to see Kyungsoo because of what he just did.
÷
Out of habit, Baekhyun wakes up and puts on a coat; he’s repeating the same thing he did at the beginning of this month.
He sits at the same bench he sat before. Baekhyun covers his face with a scarf and a hood; the morning is really cold, after all.
“Hey.” Baekhyun turns to look at the direction of the voice and faces Chanyeol, he licks his lips, he wasn’t expecting him.
“Is there something wrong?” Chanyeol asks and Baekhyun shakes his head, remaining quiet.
“I just came to check on you, it’s too cold here you should go somewhere else. I’m going, good luck with everything.” He stands up and walks away. Baekhyun closes his eyes; he’s not ready for reality.
That familiar silhouette enters the coffee shop and sits at the corner of the counter; Baekhyun sighs, he wanted to get some coffee, of course.
÷
If Baekhyun wasn’t a stalker, now he considers himself as one. Five days. For five days he had been observing Kyungsoo, but today he concluded he shouldn’t do it. It’s already Christmas, and to be honest, he’s not even a little bit excited about it.
He chose to be lounging the whole day, or maybe get some laundry done and use his kitchen. Only God knows when the last time he entered it was.
There’s a Christmas special program on the television. Baekhyun leaves it turned on but doesn’t pay attention. He sighs again; he doesn’t like Christmas anymore.
÷
There’s a knock on his door and Baekhyun is not expecting any visits, he never is; but when he opens the door and sees who’s outside, he attempts to close the door.
Kyungsoo holds the door open with his left foot. He’s stronger than Baekhyun and the latter stumbles back when he pushes the door and enters the place.
“I need an explanation. Now,” Kyungsoo demands, and Baekhyun shakes his head, denying it.
“I can’t,” he says.
“You can’t what? Tell me you have a mission to accomplish but you’re afraid to be emotionally involved with your target?” Kyungsoo says in a low voice. “Or that you’ve been outside that coffee for the past few days just looking at me?”
Baekhyun stops breathing, his heart pounding faster. How could Kyungsoo know?
“Luhan told me,” Kyungsoo explains. “Six months ago, when he started working as my assistant, that one person sent by someone would come to, I don’t know, steal my work, kidnap me, or kill me. He didn’t specify, but the moment I saw you outside the coffee shop for a whole week just being there looking at something, I thought I was being paranoid. Then you talked to me and I was sure it was you.”
Baekhyun’s hands are shaking and he doesn’t know what to say. He just remains silent, assuming that Kyungsoo still has more to say.
“And I told Luhan, after all these months he had been working with me, he became my friend. I asked him to search for information about you. I’m sorry, but I was curious, and he did it without complaining.” Kyungsoo leans on the wall. “He found everything, and that’s why he’s the right hand of the leader of his group.”
“Wait, you know about me?” Baekhyun asks, trembling. Kyungsoo is not sure, but he feels like Baekhyun would start crying at any minute.
“Yes, I do.” Kyungsoo heaves a sigh. “Luhan also told me you quit it already. I don’t know what is your mission and I don’t really care anymore. But I do care about what I’ve been feeling since I met you. Can I sit down somewhere?”
Baekhyun shows him the couch, speechless at how calm the boy is.
“You know when they say that it takes time to know a person and a minute to fall in love?” Kyungsoo asks and Baekhyun just nods. “I don’t know why I quoted this because it doesn’t apply to me, but the thing is: I fell in love with the person I shouldn’t.”
Kyungsoo looks hopeful at Baekhyun, waiting for him to say something. He just confessed and god dammit Baekhyun is paralyzed.
“Are you listening to me?” Kyungsoo asks Baekhyun and comes closer to him, the latter not even blinks.
“Aren’t you disgusted by me?” Baekhyun asks robotically, afraid of the answer.
“Why should I?” Kyungsoo tilts his head; he just confessed how can he even ask him this? Kyungsoo wants to slap Baekhyun but withdraws it.
“Because you know.” Baekhyun’s voice turns into a whisper and Kyungsoo can’t understand what he said but he knows what it is.
“Can you just shut up?” Kyungsoo snaps because apparently Baekhyun kept mumbling random words and he can’t take his stupidity anymore, so he decides that shutting him up with his own lips is a good idea.
Baekhyun is not sure how to react; nobody’s ever kissed him so gently before and nobody ever showed him any signs of caring too. The overwhelming feeling that fills his heart takes control of his actions, and soon enough, he’s kissing Kyungsoo back.
He’s also not sure how they ended up on his room, on his bed, with Kyungsoo on top of him, with their clothes thrown everywhere, but he’s sure he wants this when he throws a bottle of lube at Kyungsoo and blushes.
Kyungsoo is eager; he’s not experienced like Baekhyun, but it’s not like Baekhyun did everything really willingly because in truth, he doesn’t know what he’s doing and he’s not certain of anything.
But when Kyungsoo is making him feel this good, he can’t say a thing. Well, he can’t say anything properly at the moment, not when Kyungsoo’s fingers are trembling and sticky with lube, scissoring him open with so much care, and slowly, Baekhyun wants to cry but patience is a virtue.
Finally, when Kyungsoo thinks he’s ready, he takes his fingers out and places himself in front of Baekhyun, entering him with a painfully slow pace like before. Baekhyun flicks his hips, earning a groan from Kyungsoo.
“Just, fuck, not so slow, I’m not a porcelain doll.” Baekhyun kicks Kyungsoo’s bareback and rolls his eyes in pleasure when Kyungsoo thrusts in like a bolt into him and he’s fully seated, not even having a chance to produce any sound.
“Happy?” Kyungsoo teases and earns another kick. “Fuck, stop kicking me or I won’t move.”
“I dare you,” Baekhyun whispers while controlling his breathing.
Kyungsoo smirks and Baekhyun never thought that his cute smile could turn into something so…sexy. He curses mentally and Kyungsoo holds his hip still while he’s distracted.
“Move!” Baekhyun screams and Kyungsoo laughs wholeheartedly at how hopeful and anxious he looks right now.
“Say you’re sorry for kicking me then,” Kyungsoo requests and Baekhyun kicks the air this time, huffing and snorting.
“Okay! I’m so-” Baekhyun’s apologize is cut short when Kyungsoo starts moving and his words are replaced by a loud long moan.
Kyungsoo’s thrusts are sharp and rhythmic and Baekhyun’s chants of Kyungsoo’s name matches the crack of the bed; he starts to feel that pricking and soon he’s reaching his peak, coming hot and white on Kyungsoo’s stomach, who removes himself and comes equally on Baekhyun.
They laugh, loosely. Baekhyun is too strained to get up and clean himself, so Kyungsoo, as the gentleman that he is, does the work and lies next to Baekhyun right after.
Baekhyun hugs his waist, planting small kisses along his jaw and laughing when Kyungsoo pokes his ribs.
Baekhyun can get used to this; he just hopes this newfound happiness of his will never end.
÷
Baekhyun’s eyes shoot open when he hears someone knocking on his door. He groans. He’s not waiting for anyone; why would someone come here anyway?
He sleepily releases himself from Kyungsoo’s warm embrace and dresses up; if this person needs to talk to me, he can wait, he thinks.
When he finally opens the door, he sees Chanyeol leaning against the wall. His breath is caught in his throat and he’s more than surprised to see that tall boy here.
“Hi Baekhyun,” Chanyeol starts. “I suppose you’re wondering what I’m doing here.” He smiles and Baekhyun invites him to enter his apartment, but Chanyeol declines assuring him that his message is short and quick.
“You know, Suho.” Chanyeol licks his lips. “He kind of passed away yesterday. I don’t know how you’ll feel about this, but I think it’s more of good news than bad for you.” He wiggles his eyebrows when he sees Kyungsoo behind Baekhyun, yawning and sitting at the couch.
“Anyway, I just came by to tell you this and to say you don’t work for him anymore and that freaking stupid mission doesn’t exist. And I found this in one of his drawers, addressed to you. Therefore, I salute you. You’re free. See you around.” Chanyeol leaves the same way he came: fast and subtle, and Baekhyun loses the chance to ask him some questions.
He stands at the doorstep for a whole minute. Did he just hear to that right? Is it supposed to be this easy? He was actually expecting some fighting and blood but this was entirely unexpected. Chanyeol just gave him an envelope, Baekhyun opens it and there’s money and a little note in it.
I knew you couldn’t do it, by now I’m probably long gone, sorry for using you. Enjoy.
“What happened? You look pale,” Kyungsoo asks, hugging Baekhyun from behind.
“I’m free.” Kyungsoo turns Baekhyun around, not quite understanding his point. He didn’t see Chanyeol at the door, and he was too sleepy to pay attention. “We’re free. I can’t believe it.” Baekhyun hugs him tight and laughs because he can’t lift Kyungsoo up.
Kyungsoo chooses to not ask anything further, if Baekhyun’s this happy he shouldn’t question it.
He has a whole life to discover it.

Extra: Kris/Suho side story
“Boss, Suho made his move. He sent one of his men. What should we do?” Luhan called Kris as soon as he stepped out of the laboratory, worried about what would happen if they were too slow to put something into action.
“Leave it all to me. You know Minseok warned me about it before and that’s why you’re there. Does this man look like danger?” Kris asks from the other line and Luhan shakes his head, even though his boss can’t see him at the moment.
“No, actually he doesn’t. I’ve seen him around the streets I make my patrols. He’s no harm, but I think he might be the responsible for the death of our contributors, but obviously he’s not acting like this by his own will,” Luhan reports and exits the front door of the college.
“Suho is behind everything I suppose.” Kris sighs. How did he end up like this? “I’ll see you later at the headquarters.”
Luhan turns off his cellphone and heads to his usual place: the dirty streets in which prostitution and drug deals happen. He can’t do much but he can try to prevent things, just like Kris wanted it to happen.
÷
“Minseok are you sure he doesn’t have any other people working for him?” Kris asks, worried. He’s still glued to the phone, and for the past few days, he had been contacting every single soul he knows that may help him out. Even with all of that, the results are zero.
Suho is going too far this time, he thinks. When did he become such a person? I’ve endured too much already. It’s time to take action. I can’t keep watching it anymore.
“Yes sir. I’m the only one who works for him, aside from Chanyeol, who’s the new recruit. I’ll try to explain everything to him; he’s really open-minded and I think he’ll be of great help for us,” Minseok says. “If you excuse me sir, I have to hang up.”
The line goes dead and Kris sighs. Nowadays he’s been more than jumpy and blaming himself about what happened before.
÷
“Chanyeol, I need to have a little talk to you,” Minseok says and looks around. Suho is locked up in his office as always and he takes Chanyeol outside.
“What’s the matter, Xiumin hyung? You look troubled,” Chanyeol asks, and Minseok motions for him to come closer. He’s still not used to the security being so low here. Even after three years working for Suho, he’s not sure if the man is just really confident or he’s just plain stupid or worse: if he’s so cleaver that he puts everything hidden to catch him in the act. But he has to take the risk.
“I have something to tell you and when I’m done you say if you want it or not, okay?” Minseok asks and Chanyeol looks at him with an expression of a lost puppy.
“The thing is that well, I don’t actually work for Suho.” Minseok doesn’t wait for Chanyeol’s reply and keeps talking. “And Suho is not what you think he is. I’d like to ask if you want to help me out with this plan my boss came up. Suho, as you know, has some dirty works going on and we’re trying to get everything clear. And this huge plan he’s putting into action at the moment will affect more people than we can imagine. It’ll be a huge damage for society and we’re trying to avoid it. The only thing I ask you is: will you please help us out?”
“Are you telling the truth?” Chanyeol asks and Minseok bites his lips nodding. “If I had to be honest, I don’t know what Suho hyung is trying to do, but since I brought that Baekhyun guy here, things are looking more dangerous. I can sense it. He has no more people working for him and it scares me.”
“So are you going to help us? The only thing you actually need to do is come with me and leave this mansion to my boss to take care of everything,” Minseok asks once again, hoping to hear a positive answer.
“Yes, I’ll do it,” Chanyeol replies.
“Now I think you should go back to your position or he’ll think something is off. Thanks for your help.” Minseok pats the boy’s arm and goes back at his place at the front door.
÷
“Luhan, it’s time,” Kris says, not confident enough but nevertheless getting himself ready for what awaits him.
“I know. You have to be strong, Yifan. Please take this. You’ll need it.” Luhan pats his boss’ arm and hands him a pistol, his old pistol, the same pistol he used when he killed for the first time; it’s the same pistol he used when Suho was by his side.
“Thanks, I couldn’t use any other.” Kris leaves the room and heads to a mansion, Suho’s mansion.
÷
“You can go now, Chanyeol,” Suho dismisses his worker from the office and goes back to his papers.
The boy goes straight to outside, encountering Minseok and ready to leave once the boss he mentioned before appears.
“Why did you start to work for him?” Minseok asks and Chanyeol sighs.
“I’m helping my sister to pay my mother’s hospital bills. It’s hard to find a job that pays well when you didn’t finish college.” Chanyeol takes his cellphone out and stares at the screen. He sighs. Life isn’t easy.
“Would you like to work for us? Kris pays well and we’re not a dirty organization, I swear.” Minseok fidgets on his place and plays with his finger. Kris is such a good soul, he thinks and smiles.
“Hey Minseok, it’s everything clear?” Kris appears next to them and Chanyeol jumps and almost screams; where the fuck did this man come from?
“Yes sir, if you excuse us, we’re going to the headquarters then. Good luck with whatever you will do.” Minseok bows and walks away with Chanyeol following behind, bombarding him with questions.
Kris enters the mansion and walks straight to the office. The door is half opened and the light is coming out of it. He pushes the door and to his surprise the room is empty. He enters it and looks around, there’s a pink note, taking all the attention from the white walls and Kris comes closer to it.
Find me upstairs.
He knows I’m here, he thinks. Kris is worried and relieved at the same time, and it’s something weird to feel altogether but he pushes it away and finds his way to the top floor. He starts looking inside every room; there are so many doors to look at and Kris feels really stupid by opening it and facing the blank stare of the nude walls.
It’s worse than the death row because he doesn’t know where he needs to go and what is behind these doors.
What affects him the most is the fact that he may not know what waits for him but he knows what will to Suho.
Of course it’d be the last door with a note, which he assumes that didn’t catch his eyes at first.
I’m here, idiot.
Kris laughs, a dry one, and he turns the doorknob, revealing another room, but this time it isn’t empty. The usual white walls are covered; covered with pictures, pieces of paper, cuts of newspapers; it looks just like the work of some weirdass stalker.
“I knew you’d come.” The voice comes from behind the door and Kris jumps and places his right hand on his belt, taking his gun out slowly without Suho noticing.
“Don’t worry I won’t kill you,” Suho assures and Kris finds himself believing his words.
Suho turns around to face the walls. He passes his hands through the papers and sighs.
“When did we become like this?” Suho asks while Kris stares at one photo in particular. The one who looks like was ripped in pieces and glued back. The one in which Suho is hugging Kris. The one which they took five long years ago. The one that is far away from them but still catches Kris’ eyes like a moth to a flame.
“Yifan, I’m talking to you. When I talk, you answer me,” Suho shouts from the other side of the room, because Kris started to walk at the direction of that photo. His eyes working like an eye of a hawk; he needs to know if this is that exactly photo he thought of.
“That’s why it never worked out!” Suho screams in frustration and notices Kris taking the picture out of the wall. “What are you doing?”
“You kept it?” Kris asks, more to himself than to Suho. The other man goes to the window, looking out of it. Looks like it’ll rain tonight.
“But you ripped it. I saw you ripping it,” Kris bugs Suho about it again; he clearly remembers the latter not even ripping but stomping and burning it.
“I had another copy. Stop asking me questions and do what you came here for, or you came to have a nice chat with an old buddy?” Suho snaps and Kris looks around once again, absorbing every detail of the room, he remembers most of what he sees glued to the walls and what Suho just said sinks in. He knows why I’m here.
“Just shoot me, please? I know you have a gun with you and… oh. Isn’t that the gun I gave you when we were fifteen?” Suho almost laughs in delight, not afraid of dying apparently.
“Joonmyeon, I’m serious.” Kris tone is turning severe and he gets more and more worried at each minute.
“You think I’m joking? I know what I’ve done, and I know I did wrong. There’s no turning back. Game over. The end. I don’t mind; just shoot me. I want nobody but you to be the one to send me to hell.” Suho ends his speech and looks at Kris with wavering eyes. “Is it too much to ask?”
“Wait, you knew I was coming?” Kris remembers what Suho just said and laughs, of course he knew, he knew the whole time.
“You think I’m stupid? I have cameras hidden everywhere; your little spy didn’t take care enough. And when I heard you’d come yourself just to see me, I couldn’t be more happy.” Suho wanders around the room and stands next to Kris. “Now just shoot me before I shoot you. I’m getting impatient,” he whispers next to his ear and steps back, giving him one smile.
“I need an explanation before any of that, though.” Kris lowers his gun. Suho rolls his eyes he retreats to where he was and comes back holding a gun.
“Stop searching for explanations when they’re not needed; just finish your job and go back to your life. Goodbye Yifan.” Suho chokes when he says the last word and he points the gun at Kris.
“No wait-” Kris is interrupted by the loud sound of firing and he closes his eyes.
The most funny about the human race is that they’re extremely selfish, but sometimes they can be selfish not because they want the benefits for themselves, but because they want the benefits for someone they care and they forget about themselves at these times.
When Kris opens his eyes and sees the blood on the floor, he knows it’s not his. He also knows Suho did it for him. He’s not physically in pain, but just emotionally.
When he sees Suho, fallen on the ground, his eyes get watery, just like Suho’s got when he left him three years ago; just like when he had said he loved him.
His tears fall like a river in course and when he sees Suho’s hands trying to reach him, he runs to his side. He looks at Suho’s face, he’s smiling again, even when he’s bleeding to death, and he cries harder.
“Shh, don’t cry. You’re older than me; you shouldn’t cry.” Suho pats his hand. “You know this would happen, wanting or not. I’m glad you were by my side.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Kris buries his face on Suho’s neck and the latter laughs.
“Why are you sorry? Don’t be. It was my fault. I was blinded by the money and the luxury; I was the one that distanced myself. I was the one that hurt you.” Suho caresses his blond hair.
“When you love someone you have to let them go, right? I did it already; can you do it for me?” Suho asks gently and Kris gets up, sniffing and wiping his tears away, his voice is too weak to say anything so he just nods. “Can you do another favor for me?”
“Anything.” Kris whispers and Suho motions for him to come closer, but the latter whimpers when he accidentally brushes past the place he was shot. Kris whispers way too many I’m sorry’s and Suho just laughs it out like he always does.
Suho breaths heavily, the blood quickly rushing out of his body as he whispers his last wishes in Kris’s ears. “Could you stay by my side and hold my hand until I go?”
Kris almost snorts at the request, if this wasn’t totally inappropriate at the moment, and he takes Suho’s hands into his larger ones.
“I always liked how your hands were bigger than mine, it made me feel safe.” Suho smiles and a single tear rolls down his face. “I think I can go with the feeling of security if you keep holding my hand like this.”
“Do you remember that time when we went to the beach? The one in which we got to know Luhan?” Kris nods his head and keeps listening to Suho’s voice. “Is he alright? I remember him being such a nice kid; don’t let him end up like me.”
Suho looks down at his wound, his favorite white clothes are getting soaked in red and he couldn’t ask for a better outfit, he treasured it for such a long time, and he chose it especially for this night. His last night.
“I know I missed my heart, but I think that in a few minutes, I’ll be departing from this world.” Suho coughs and not surprisingly, there’s the taste of iron lingering in his tongue.
“Can you sing for me?” Suho asks and Kris looks at him.
“Are you kidding?” Kris asks, not wanting to make Suho make any more effort than necessary.
“Actually, yes, I am.” And the room is suddenly filled with laughs, but Kris stops laughing when Suho can’t breathe properly.
“No, it’s okay, don’t worry.” Suho closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “I think it’s time.”
Kris’s tears didn’t cease to fall not even once, his face looks all swollen and his nose is red, but Suho thinks he never looked so beautiful.
“I know I said I wanted just one last wish but can I ask for another one?” Kris smiles at him and whispers again. “Anything, anything for you.”
“Can you kiss me?” Suho smiles and blushes; Kris looks at him, at how endearing his smile is and even when he’s about to die he manages to blush.
Kris shyly nods and plants a kiss, innocent just like their first one, on Suho’s now pale and cold lips.
“Thanks.” Suho closes his eyes and another tear falls. “Thanks and sorry for everything I did wrong, I hurt you, I-” He coughs and his breaths slowly stops. “Yifan,” he whispers. “I love you.”
His hands get loose, his chest stops moving, and he closes his eyes at the moment he whispered his last words. The rain starts to fall: its heavy drops brushing the glass of the window. Kris doesn’t have to tell him back but he whispers, “I love you too, Joonmyeon.” And he knows Suho already knew he did; he never stopped loving him, he never stopped caring and he never stopped thinking about him. He thought Suho was the one who did, the one who broke his heart was the only one, the only one who could gather the pieces and glue them back, but he’s gone and Kris is not sure about how he will manage to do it.
He’s still holding Suho’s cold hands into his; he treasured every last moment, every last word, every last look, and every last touch. And he couldn’t ask for anything more, because Suho left knowing he still loved him, the way his eyes turned into crescents after he kissed one last time gave it away. And knowing that he still loved him too is something he’ll never ever forget. He wipes his tears away and releases Suho’s hands. He has to be strong and heal his heart.
And apparently, he has a lot of cleaning to do.
A/N:
PS: Just a brief explanation if something weren’t cleared out. Suho gave this mission to Baekhyun, but he gave it to him mostly to get Kris’ attention, because he was tired of living, with money and everything he ever wanted but alone, so he made this plan, he was selfish before, he didn’t want to be a bother, but when he died and Kris didn’t, he ended up being selfish too, but hopefully Kris can manage to go on. Baekhyun had his happy ending with Kyungsoo and I’m sorry if something sounds confusing ><
apparently this is my first time writing smut, I hope it wasn't awkward. And I just had to write a little extra side story explaining something that happened and I couldn't really fit into the flow of the main story. I hope you'll like it and thank you for your awesome prompts.
