“Tell you a story?” he asks. His voice is deep with age and not as she remembers. But his eyes are still clear with confidence; the tilt of his head is still just as self-possessed.
“I’m too old for stories,” Kanna says; Pakku only smiles.
“But it’s a good one- about a boy who never stopped loving a girl.”
She shakes her head. “I already know how that story ended.”
His hands are warm as they cup her face and she can taste the ocean on his lips as they brush against hers. “What you remember was just the beginning.”
