I honestly don't think Wildstorm/Dc know what the fuck they can do with Authority. They know fanboy/girls love Midnigher and Apollo for the ZOMGGHEY, but don't know *how* to write them.

Yeah, I've gotta agree with you there. Of course, the solution they can't seem to grasp is...find someone who *does* know how to write them :p
