DC have announced
the end of the Wildstorm imprint.
Augh. This sucks so much. I know, we can't in all conscience say we didn't see it coming - there's been some bad missteps, a lack of focus and direction, and sales have sunk steadily from poor to dreadful on the core titles since World's End launched - but still; the imprint that gave us not just Authority but Planetary, Ex Machina etc. is no more, and from the sounds of it the only future for the characters lies in getting folded into the wider DC universe. Yeah, that's going to work. I'm sure Apollo and Midnighter will get tons of panel time and character moments in the DCverse *facepalm*
Sad. This is the imprint that started all of my comics fandom, without which I wouldn't even read comics, at all. I'm going off to re-read some Ellis Authority in memoriam now :(
Edit: again, nothing we didn't know before, but
here is a new summary of how DC drained the life out of Wildstorm since buying it. What a bloody waste.
