Okay, so I was coming out of work today outside of Richards Hall and I noticed a bunch of students gathered around a tree. Being curious, I wandered over to the group and saw that they were all staring at a hawk who was perched on the branch eating a squirrel he had apparently just killed. I have to say that is one of the more odd things that I’ve seen while living in the city. It’s not like I didn’t know that there was a hawk living around Huntington Avenue. I’ve seen him before; he likes to sit on the light poles by the Northeastern T stop. I’ve never actually seen an animal eating another animal in Boston. Anyway, I took a couple of pictures with my phone and thought I would share. The first is when I came downstairs to go work on a computer problem, and the last is when I left for the evening. As you can see, he picked the carcass pretty well, so well that there are only bones and small tufts of fur still protruding.
I’ll be back!
