If you could pick anyone in the world, alive or dead, to be your parents, who would it be and why?

You know that game? Where you look into peoples' windows from the street and imagine how life would be if you where them? - I did play that a lot in my life. Still do, actually.
When I was little, I imagined how it would be to have a little brother. Or a sister. Sometimes.
Then there was a time where I imagined how it would be to have a father.
Now I think of how it would be to have a mother.
But it's never anyone specific.

True, there was a time, when I didn't yet know that Duncan was my real dad, that I wished that my dad was more like him. But it still came as a shock when he said he really was my dad. You know what I'm saying?

In the end, it doesn't matter, you know. As long as your parents love you and are there for you. It doesn't matter who they are.
Sure, it would be cool to have some rock or movie star as parents. You'd be famous and could do anything you wanted.
Or boaters. To live on the Cut. In a narrow boat. With no school to go to and no bath to take. That wouldn't be half bad.
But who knows? Maybe those kids know the game too, you know. They too look into peoples' windows and imagine how life would be being with them.

In the end, it doesn't matter. Everyone's stuck with their parents. And I'm totally happy with the mum I had and the dad I have now.
