Introduction: May-Alice Culhane

This is me walking.  This is a photo of a dream.  A stupid fucking car accident landed me in a wheelchair.  I have a T10 complete spinal cord lesion.  I am a paraplegic.  I will never walk again.

Before the accident, I was an actress...  Don't get excited, it was only daytime, a dead-end job if ever there was one.  Oh, a precious few soap actresses make it to the big time:  Kathleen Turner, Demi Moore...  I think I'm dating myself.  Anyway, after the accident I went through a bad spell.  Threw the world's biggest pity-party, flunked out of rehab, then I rolled back to my childhood home in Lake Arthur, Louisiana.  To wither and die, I guess.  I wore out a string of caretakers before Chantelle came along.  Our respective baggage clashed and made a huge mess, but out of that we both began to build new lives.  I was offered my old job back (playing a blind, paraplegic character, can you say "loser?") but I decided I wanted to make my life work here.  Here is home.  Home is where the heart is (not to mention old friends).  Chantelle agreed to stay so now, as she says, we're stuck with each other.

But she's learning to cook.
