Elizabeth gives him a dazzling smile clasping his hand in a warm greeting, "What an incredibly well mannered gentleman you are, Mr. Potter! Welcome! You remind me very much of Dr. John Dee. Are you an alchemist as well?"
"Fear not, young Sir. We do not burn mages or witches in my realm. They enjoy both our patronage and our protection, here; much to the chagrin of both Rome and the King of Spain, I assure you. You must tell me sometime of your chiefest study as such. I assure you I am very interested in such things."
Oh. Really? I didn't know that. I always thought the Throne was more ... um, strict on witches and wizards. Not saying that I am one.... *Looks around nervously*
Confidentially, you will find that we are far more tolerant here than the rest of Europe. We have people in my realm who make their very living by what some would consider the "dark arts". We have conjurers, alchemists, healers as well as poisoners, astronomers and astrologers and those who call themselves necromancers. Let the papist French and Spaniards burn such talented people but here, in My Kingdom, they are both appreciated and respected."
"Of course you didn't say that you were, Master Potter. My apologies for inferring such with you."
*Bows, a little awkwardly*

Not exactly an alchemist, Ma'am. Though I suppose you could say that. It's probably the closest definition.
