I am in the glow of Hamlet.
This is a bliss unlike anything I've ever known. I just saw the Hamlet done the Shakespeare Theatre Company in D.C.; it was-- ...there are not even words. It was beautiful. I didn't cry, but my heart ached. I clapped and clapped until my hands hurt.
I want to see it again.
Anyway.
Other things of note which have happened recently:
1) Prom was a joke. I looked great, but seriously? Spending so much money to get dressed up, just to bump and grind on a dance floor? What is this? Kelley Rowan (bane of my existence, and now Beach's ex-girlfriend) spilled daiquiri all over herself at dinner, and cut open her knuckle on a bottle-opener in the limo. Josh was a great prom date, though, amusingly enough, many people speculated that Josh and I were gettin' it on since we'd disappeared for most of the dance. We'd actually gone to explore the hotel. We hung out on the balcony overlooking the ball room (pointing out particularly vulgar couples), and spied on the Indian wedding on the other side of that wing of the hotel. Met Mr. Crawford and his girlfriend Tina; he said that I looked gorgeous and hugged me, both completely without prompting. I was pleased.
2) I've graduated high school. That's really, really nice. Graduation itself was worse than the DMV and as poorly organized. And having nine family-members/friends staying in our house? Not fun. The unknown level of Hell is that where all your relatives are kept, waiting for you.
3) I had a graduation/birthday party. 80's themed. It was great. So much crazy-fun dancing and great outfits. At more than one point, I found myself dancing with not only Mr. Crawford, but Brian. Dancing between the two men I love the most. Does life get any better?
4) A piece of advice: Do not go to party after-parties where stupid girls are likely to pass out at four in the morning, despite the fact that they were the only one present who was likely to get in trouble. Taking said girl home to make sure she doesn't stop breathing or choke on her own vomit is not fun.
5) I've actually turned 18-years-old. Huzzah for checking accounts, porn, cigarettes, getting to vote and being legally able to have sex! Being tried as an adult and getting drafted -- downsides.
6) Hamlet = love. I swear to God, I'm seeing it again. Anyone want to come with?
Seeing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead next weekend. Just let me know if you want to come along!
