Sunday morning, Jim woke me up with a pleasant surprise (quickies can be fun!) before we showered, packed, and made our way down to checkout of the hotel.
We once again ran into Lee and Hugh before packing up the car and making our way over to Union Cafe, formerly Union Station. The place had moved further down High Street to a very nice, eclectic looking bar/restaurant area. We had the brunch and chatted with a few more guys before hitting the road. Jim had to be back in Cincinnati for a rehearsal at 3pm followed by his touring show with Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
While on the road, we had a discussion of the events of the weekend. To put it simply, I enjoyed myself, but felt like there could have been something more. I was definitely frustrated with the scene in Columbus and some attention issues that bubbled up in me during the weekend. We talked a lot and sorted out some of the feelings we both had about the run before we got into the city and to CSC.
It was about this time that I got extremely tired. I thought the lack of sleep from the weekend really caught up with me, but there was something else there. While Jim was in rehearsal, I slept and was barely able to keep my eyes open when we were back on the road heading to Glendale for the show. When we arrived, I started feeling a little better, so it was all good.
Jim is in the touring production of
Much Ado About Nothing. I must say that it was very entertaining. They performed this show on a cement driveway with a large yard being where the audience was. This made for an interesting crowd.
The show was very lovely. A comedy more than anything. Unfortunately, outside elements conspired to try and ruin the show. There were at least 5 trains that passed through the area and, with the show being outside, it totally blew out the cast. However, most were able to cover for it (in very humorous ways). The show was a delight and I am glad I got the chance to see it.
The evening came and Jim dropped me off. It took me forever to unpack as my energy was quickly zapped as I made it inside. I did the best I could before heading off to bed, definitely glad I took the Monday off.
Flash forward to now: The reason my energy was down was because I was sick. I had tonsilitis. I am not blaming anyone on the run, just stating that it happened. It could have been from kissing someone. It could have been from the walk on Friday. It could have been from wearing the kilt, or being outside at the Club. It happens. It's no biggie. I went to an UrgentCare on Tuesday and got medication, so I should be fine. I've been resting and doing nothing else all week.
Also, I have realized that I did have a very good time at Bear Camp 007. There were some good moments and some bad moments. I met several new people I hadn't met before and ran into many friends, both old and new. The run was very well put together and I am always so glad to see how much effort gets put into these things. Plus, I have gotten a lot of response from online after all the events played out. There are still a few lingering questions and ponderings, but I'm fine now. I'm glad we went and hope to make it again next year.
