Bear Camp 007 Part I: Thursday

Jul 25, 2007 19:14

So, this weekend was Bear Camp 007: Licensed to Thrill up in Columbus. After all the stuff that has happened between Jim and I these past couple of months, a vacation or sorts was definitely needed. I took off from work starting on Wednesday and used that day to sort of "gear up" for the weekend ahead. definitely glad that I did.

Jim picked me up Thursday afternoon and we made the quick jaunt up to Columbus (getting pounded with a rain storm rolled in). We stayed at the host hotel (Red Roof Inn) for the run and checked in there, resting a little bit before making our way down to register. Soon after checking in, we ran into Lee and Hugh, a couple that we know from Cincinnati. They're a very nice couple that have been together for over 13 years. They're funny and friendly and we definitely enjoy their company. After registering for the run, we all went to Max & Erma's for dinner (yum!). We chatted and were being catty about a lot of different topics. It was a nice vacation from stuffy Cincinnati as no one seemed to mind four bearish guys laughing their asses off!

Stripperpalooza
We all parted ways briefly to change clothes before meeting up again to head off to WOOFs for the first event of the run: Stripperpalooza. It didn't take long for us to run into William shelbycub, the host/emcee for most of the weekend's events. Being his usual loud/funny/outrageous self, he started off the strip show. Now let me tell you this: the strippers are amateur. They are usually people registered for the run, so if you were expected exotica, you were sadly disappointed. The first stripper though was Bob booboobob was actually entertaining (and definitely had no qualms about being oggled by adoring bears, neither). The others were okay, but lacked a sort of spirit. Oh well, it was all good. I met Shawn, Joe, and Jason from NJ. Shawn is the partner of a guy named Ron who comes to Cincinnati every year to be a part of Playhouse's A Christmas Carol. Also ran Rob & Terry (rcthebearcub and svtcobrafreak respectively) and other Cincinnati couple Rob & Terry (yes, we know they have the same names).

I ran into other people as well, including William's wonderfully ghetto, red-headed, mohawk-wearing white boy, Rico. OMG wasn't he funny!?! He was delight for most of the run. When the stripping was over, we all hung out at WOOFs for a while. I got a little tipsy on vodka & cranberry, but was okay. We drove back to hotel around 2am or so, where Jim and I had a little fun before heading to bed, looking forward to what the next day would bring us.
