Catching up on LJ after being away for 5 days is tough (Damn my friends write a lot *G*)
Anyway, I'm sure you all want to hear about my weekend in Berea for Homecoming. Here we go:
Thursday
Shawn got off work early, so he made his way to my place early. After leaving work late trying to get things finished, he was able to pick me up from my bus stop. We stopped at my place so I could change and finish packing and then made our way down to Berea. We arrived about 8ish and stopped at Papaleno's, a local Italian restaurant with some great food. We ran into a friend and current student Chris aka BGC (Big Gay Chris) aka Krystifer Coll-Biondi (he changed his name, why I don't know). He's been a student for several years (he joined back in 1999, dropped out in 2000, then recently re-enrolled). We talked and gossiped about the goings-on of people we knew. We left him and made it to our hotel to watch "Reunion" on FOX (great show). Our hotel room was a sweet suite with a sofabed. After the show, we decided to hit Wal-Mart (sorry
kevinduran) to get some food for me and some snacks.
Shawn and I spent a majority of the rest of the evening talking, well mostly him talking and me listening. We've been needing to catch up on things and this gave us the opportunity to do so. Plus, Shawn had a lot to get off of his chest. Overall, it was just good to talk.
Friday
Shawn got up early and headed off to the Young Alumni Committee's annual meeting (which is how we get the free room) and I just relaxed at the hotel. I watched a lot of TV, mostly VH1 and Comedy Central, channels I don't get at home but enjoy on occasion. Saw "I Love the 80s 3-D (1989)" and laughed my ass off. It was great.
Around 5pm, Shawn called and he picked me up from the hotel. He had some more meeting things to do and since we had plans to go up to Richmond to meet friends, he just figured I could walk around campus for a while until we needed to head up. I did just that. Berea's beautiful campus has always brought calm to me. As I said before, there are other issues here, but for the most part, there is a serene tranquility of the campus that I will always miss. The brick buildings, the history, the trees, the open air, ALL of it is just amazing to me. Shawn soon joined up with me and we continued to walk around campus, stopping in the theatre dept building to reminisce. We left the campus about 6:40 to head to Richmond (about 15 miles away) for our dinner plans.
We had plans to meet Brittainy, another Berea alum and great friend to both of us, and her husband, Mike at O'Charleys. We arrived right at 7pm and they were already seated. All in all, the food was okay (a bit on the small side though) and the conversation was even better. Brittainy's going to grad school at Morehead University and will graduate in August. After that, she may go on to her Ph.D at UK in Lexington or her and Mike will try to have babies (they had to wait for Mike's mom to consent...). It was great talking with her and him (he's a cutie WOOF!). We stayed at the table for a good 30 minutes after we paid our bill just talking and laughing. Then, of course, having nothing else to do, we frolicked around Wal-Mart for a while (sorry again
kevinduran), bought some alcohol and such (I found a USB printer cable for the printer Jim got me for my bday ^_^). Brittainy said goodbye to Mike and then rode with us back down to Berea. She stayed in our hotel with us. Brittainy is always fun to be around. Her blunt and somewhat quirky personality makes her a pretty damn good fag hag. We talked and laughed into the evening (also had a fun quick conversation with
oni1111 ), finally hitting the hay about 1am. We were planning on going to the Homecoming parade but decided against it and instead slept (Brittainy's friend Kathleen arriving aroung 4am after driving from WV definitely made that decision for us).
More to come as soon as I finish writing it. Stay tuned! It gets better...
