It's Been A While: Chicago Trip Prelude

May 05, 2008 23:32

I know it has been ages since I have posted something (over 10 weeks according to LJ). But after this past weekend, I knew I needed to post (running into so many LJers prompted me to do so). Life has been busy and LJ really fell through the cracks. A quick recap of the goings-on with me in 2008:

1. Men's Chorus! I returned to singing with CMC back in January and am so glad I did. I really missed them. We had a "Revenge of the Divas" concert back in March that went very well. We are now preparing for a concert "Heroes" at the end of the month (May 31st). This concert will then go on to the GALA conference in Miami (YES, I am going...).

2. Work: There have been some slight changes at work at Macy's. A lot of corporate changes and such have increased workloads all around for us all. It has not been easy and I find myself coming home tired and not really wanting to do much of anything.

3. Relationship: Jim and I are still going pretty strong. We're about a month shy of 5 years together! It's rather amazing and things have been great.

4. Theatre: I have seen a lot of theatre whenever there was some free time. Among the good (and bad) that I have seen includes: The Color Purple (awesome), The Great American Trailer Park Musical (hilarious), Bare: a pop opera (okay, but bad sound problems), Ella (fantastic), A Sleeping Country (nice), Doubt (contemplative), and Take Me Out (very good).

5. Home: Well, the big issue that has happened. I received a call from my mom about a month ago. Basically, she has sold the house she and my sister lived in (and myself also until I went to college and then moved to Cincy). Her psych was saying that she still wasn't getting any better and my mom felt that she could no longer live (and pay for) the house any longer. As much as I dislike the fact that she did so, I understand here reasons behind it. It's been hard to deal with emotionally, but I have been coping with it. It'll definitely feel weird next time I head down to Louisville to visit. It's probably why I'm so hesitant to go.

So, as you can see: life for me has had its ups and downs. I promise to try and post more often.

Coming soon...Chicago Trip Part I
