Thursday morning observations...

First off, where did the week go? I hate it when the days go so slowly individually and then all of a sudden everything has flown by. On the other hand, the weekend is just moments away and includes...(trumpet sound, offstage left)...the North Texas Irish Festival. Yes, I think I will go. I will get out. Even if it is by myself. Check it out: www.ntif.org and let me know if you have any recommendations.

In other news, My Yahoo homepage held some surprises for me this morning. For one thing, the sports listing was FULL of baseball games. Shocking, sure, they're spring training and count for nothing, but it does mean that it's begun! The next was the weather window. I monitor five cities: NYC, Clifton, New Haven, Easton, and Dallas. Yes, I realize that NYC and Clifton won't be too different and neither will those other towns...heck, I should add my zip code to the list, since it'll be just as different from downtown as NYC and Clifton will be. Anyway...for me, high in the 70s (better than yesterday when DFW airport saw 93! Heck, I thought it was pleasant to have no coat and there was a beautiful, refreshing breeze. And I was inside.) Back for you northeasterners...snow! You're probably not at all surprised cause they would have been saying it like the arrival of doomsday for at least a week, but I was shocked. I had forgotten that it could be so pleasant here and, well, that it was still snow season!

Next...gas prices. I'm confused. I don't know what's going on. While many stations have been dropping to 2.05 for us, or at least hovering about 2.10, the one nearest me on the way to work (which I generally don't use) has been steadily increasing, and is now at 2.19 after a five cent jump overnight Tuesday. Why? This inconsistency, it confuses me...should I buy the gas now while it's cheap even though I can wait another few days, or should I hold out for a continued drop? Vhat is go ing on?

Final observation...I fasted yesterday for Ash Wednesday. although I had some stomach grumblings, it wasn't too bad at all. I had a bit of Gatorade and lots of water and one piece of gum. I expected to be famished this morning. But not at all. This is not the case. Instead, I feel just fine. Which may only prove...I eat too much.
