It’s kind of horrible to be stuck between two girls you’ve kissed, and are absolutely and utterly confused about.
But that’s the least of Kat’s problems right now.
The main problem is that there is singing going on; one of the few things Kat shouldn’t ever do. Only she loves the Beatles, and tends to get carried away when prompted.
Lily starts it off, “In the to-o-wn where I was b-o-o-o-rn, lived a man who sailed to sea.”
Then Kaya gasps; goes, “Oh my god, I love this song!” She picks up the next verse, “And he to-o-old us of his life, in the la-a-and of submarines.” Just that Kaya can’t sing, and isn’t even in the right octave. Kat takes comfort knowing that she’s not the only one who should not and cannot sing.
So there’s a beautiful harmonization when Lily and Kaya sing together, “So we sa-a-ailed up to the sun, til we fo-o-ound the sea of green.”
And of course they both forget the next lyric, and apparently Kat’s the only one in the car who actually knows it.
She bobs her head, as if the lyrics would somehow transfer to her cast-mates brains; but it doesn’t, and then when Lily and Kaya both put their hands on Kat’s thighs, the only thing she can do is cry out, “And we lived beneath the wa-a-aves, in our yellow submarine.”
“WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE. WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE, YELLOW SUBMARINE.” The entire cast starts singing. Evidently Lisa actually knows the harmony to the chorus, so they end up sounding rather good.
Luke takes a turn on the verse; gets the words wrong. Jack, Merv, and Ollie provide the band noises, and then they are, all singing the chorus again; this time Lisa teaches Ollie and Meg the harmony.
Kat gets carried away; forgets that there are two hands on both her thighs, squeezing gently; cracks out the next verse, “So we li-i-ive a life of ease,”
Kaya and Lily provide the, “LIFE OF EASE”. Scream it in Kat’s ear, loud enough that all her piercing jingles.
Meg and Kat, “Everyone of us,”
Jack and Kaya, “EVERYONE OF US.”
Lily and Merv, “Has all we ne-e-ed.”
Kat shouts in Lily’s ear, “HAS ALL WE NEED.” Blushes slightly when Lily gives her a look.
Kaya and Meg, “Sky of blu-u-ue”
Merv, Jack, Luke, and Ollie, “SKY OF BLUE.”
Lisa, “And seas of green.”
Kaya, Kat, and Lily, “SEAS OF GREEN.”
Merv, “In our yellow-“
Luke, “IN OUR YELLOW.”
Simon, “Submarine.”
The entire cast, “SUBMARINE.”
The van driver turns, and stares at them; they all burst out into giggles.
Then Kat is made fully aware of the two hands still on her thighs, when both hands jolt a little higher, due to the car’s sudden movement.
Looks down at both the hands; remembers ‘friendly’; grins; grabs both the hands and slides them further up her thighs.
Lily snatches her hand away, embarrassed.
Kaya keeps it there; stares at Kat, who just smirks back.
And swiftly it’s turned into a game.
--
There’s something magical about the woods.
--
Subsequently, Kaya tackles Kat to the ground in attempt ‘to shield you from the orcs, young Frodo,’ lets her hands caress Kat’s front; plants a rushed kiss perilously close to Kat’s mouth; bounces up, screams ‘CHARGE’, and then tackles Merv and Lisa to the ground. Then the magic is replaced with a very befuddled, and inappropriately turned on Kat.
And a laughing crew.
--
The one downside to acting, Kat decides, is the waiting. It’s like there is more waiting then actual filming.
She finds a log, and settles on it. Blows on her tea; observes as Lily and Meg mock some of the crew; the boys play tag; Lisa and Kaya play Paddy Cake. Stares long enough at Kaya for Kaya to take notice. Kaya smirks; blows an air kiss, then proceeds to slap Lisa’s forehead.
What Kat doesn’t see is that Lily’s started to stare at Kat still staring at Kaya. She doesn’t notice that Lily pulls her overcoat closer, snatches her tea from off the card table, and wearily walks over to Kat.
“Mind if I join, Kitty?”
Kat flinches slightly at the sound of the voice. Tears her eyes away from Kaya; rests her eyes on Lily’s lips.
Friendly Kat reminds herself, so teases with a “No. I’m afraid not, Loveless. That seat’s taken.”
Lily rolls her eyes, and scoots Kat over.
--
Oddly enough the conversation starts off with “remember”, a word that Kat has tried to avoid over the past 4 months, due to weird reactions, and tension filled silences. But this “remember” somehow avoids the subject of them. Only consists of the remembrance of the skits, and improvs, and their mutual love for their acting teacher.
--
“CUNT SUCKER!” Lily jumps closer to Kat. Grasps her arm too hard.
“Excuse me?” Kat quirks her eyebrow. Briefly swipes a glance at Lily’s hand on her arm. Feels her arm hair rise; blames it on the temperature. Friendly.
“There was-ugh God-I don’t even fucking know. We’re in the fucking woods, it’s fucking dark outside, and something bloody moved.” Lily steadies her breathing, “Thus the ‘cunt sucker’. Sorry.”
“Ah.” Kat laughs; readjusts her position; feels Lily’s side against her arm. She wants more, so she get closer, because, it’s not like she can fucking help it; the fact that Lily Loveless turns Kathryn Prescott into a 13 year old boy, or a love sick puppy, or something a long the lines of utterly pitiable. “Didn’t know you were such a scaredy-cat, Lily.”
“I’m not. I just don’t like things that-wiggle.”
Kat smirks, “How inconvenient for Will.”
“No! I so did not mean it like that.” Lily shoves Kat.
Kat chuckles.
Lily rolls her eyes, lets her self smile just a bit, “Go fuck a tree. That’s not what I meant.”
“That’s exactly what you meant.”
Lily pouts. Kat grins like a Cheshire cat. And then Lily screams again, jumping so far onto Kat that they both topple over; Lily inadvertently splays out on top of Kat.
“Jesus, Lily!” Kat gasps; Lily’s knee presses up against her. The throbbing from Kat’s previous attack re-invites itself, and Kat wonders how many times possible she can get horny in one day, and what that is compared to teenage boys.
Lily jerks up, removes her knee; blushes, “It moved. The log fucking moved! It freaked me out.”
It’s so exceptionally adorable that Kat thinks Fuck friendly; sits up; slides her hand across Lily’s back; grabs Lily’s hip, and pulls her closer. She knows her voice is huskier than usual; also knows the effect it had on Lily; hopes it will have the same effect on Lily again. Whispers, “I promise, I’ll protect you.”
Only when Lily starts uncontrollably laughing does Kat realize the cheesiness of the line.
Feels her cheeks grow ridiculously hot; buries her face in her hands.
Lily grabs Kat’s hands; pulls them away from Kat’s scrunched face. Lily giggles, and pulls Kat in for a hug, “Aw, Kitty. It’s like you’re my own personal Xena the Warrior Princess.” Places a delicate kiss on Kat’s red ear. “And I’m like the-what’s the Blonde’s name?”
“Gabrielle.”
“Right. You’re Xena, and I’m Gabrielle.”
Kat pulls back; looks at Lily with an amused look.
Lily widens her eyes, asks, “What?”
Kat smiles to herself. She murmurs, “Nothing”, starts playing with a twig in front of her.
Lily pouts again.
“It’s just-“ Kat snorts.
“Hello. What?”
Kat sighs dramatically, stares directly at Lily, “It’s just-that was so incredibly gay.”
--
Kat’s fucking freezing by the time filming for the day wraps up.
Has Ollie hold her, which suddenly then turns into Ollie, Luke and Jack holding her, and by the end Kat is someway on the ground screaming mercy because Jack decides to start a tickle fight; 3 boys against her.
--
Somewhere around nine, they all build a campfire, and tell ludicrous ghost stories.
Kat is squashed between Kaya and Mike the sound guy, who for the record needs to shower.
Around nine thirty, she forgets where the fuck she is, when Kaya’s freezing hand slips under her overcoat, and onto her thigh.
Kat clears her throat and laughs at a line in Lisa’s story. Waits until all eyes are off her; slides her hand under Kaya’s coat, starts tracing small circles on the inside of Kaya’s thigh. Waits for Kaya's reaction with slightly parted lips; notices the tension in Kaya's neck muscles. She slides her hand higher and smugly grins when Kaya’s breathing hitches.
She debates sliding her hand even higher, to add some color to Kaya’s now white face, but realizes that she’s up next for a ghost story, and getting someone off plus telling a ghost is not exactly a good combination. So Kat slowly removes her hand to clap and Kaya starts breathing again.
--
They’ve stopped at a Gas Station on the way back to Bristol. Kat rushes to the bathroom; pees like a fucking race horse.
Kaya’s voice comes from the other side of the door, “Let me in.”
“Hold on a second. I’m almost done.” Kat pulls up her pants.
“Kat! I have to really fucking pee! Let me in!” Kaya bangs the door.
Kat washes her hands, and slowly walks to the door; opens it, teases, “Well aren’t we-“
She’s not exactly sure what happens, but it goes something along the lines of this; Kat opens the door, and Kaya with some strange force pushes Kat back in, closes the door behind them, and Kat finds herself pinned against the bathroom door.
Their noses are touching, and Kat’s somewhat stunned. Takes in a deep breath, looks anywhere but Kaya.
Kaya’s the first to speak, “Kat?”
Kat raises her eyebrows, hears people start to line up for the bathroom on the other side of the door.
Kaya smiles sweetly, rubs her nose against Kat’s, “You do realize two can play at this game… right?”
Kat has to only remember the fire for the ever-lasting-and-a-day throbbing to come streaming back in. She smiles, “Ah. Yes. Gotcha didn’t I? I believe that’s twelve points for Kat; none for Kaya.”
Kaya releases Kat’s hands, turns to the sink to check her make-up; “I can easily make that up, Miss Prescott. Easily.”
Kat walks over to the mirror; moves Kaya with her hip. Examines her eye make up, “I don’t know… I don’t think it’s possible, Kaya. I’m pretty good at what I do.”
“Really?” It’s so low that it reverberates in Kat. She looks up to see Kaya standing behind her. Kaya gathers Kat’s hair in her hand; swoops it to the side. Her front presses up against Kat.
Kat turns to face Kaya, but is abruptly stopped.
“Look.” Kaya growls; forces Kat to face the mirror again. Kaya shifts in closer, murmurs in Kat’s ear, “Are you a neck or ear person?”
Kat stares at Kaya through the mirror. Breathes, “I don’t know”; feels her legs start to give out.
“We will just have to find out.”
Kaya’s lips make contact with Kat’s neck. Nipping, kissing, sucking. Kat unsuccessfully tries to contain her moan; feels Kaya laugh against her neck.
They stay staring at each other; Kat watching as Kaya brings her to the edge; Kaya watching as Kat slowly falls into her.
Kaya tugs on Kat’s earlobe, making Kat grasp the sink for dear life. A small “Dear God,” escapes Kat; her entire body heated, and throbbing.
Kaya pulls back with another tug on the ear; grins. “Told ya so.”
--
“What the fuck is wrong with you? You look like you just, like, died or something.” Meg asks.
“Nothing. I’m just-erm-tired.” Kat shakily sits next to her. Hears Kaya in the back of the van laugh at something Jack says. Sees Lily look at her, and then quickly look away. Lily gets out her phone, and starts texting. Kat knows it’s Will; waits for the jealousy to come, but only feels the intense throbbing that has made her jeans so absurdly tight; Thinks this must be what it’s like to overdose on Viagra, then readjusts her sitting position.
Meg is still staring at her; trying to figure out the current color of her twin’s face.
“Jesus, Meg. What the fuck?” Kat snaps.
“You look like shit. Babe, honestly.”
“Yeah, well I can say the exact same for you.” Kat looks out the window, hoping that Meg will get the message.
And being that they are twins, Meg does; just rolls her eyes, mutters, “Fuck you” and starts chatting up Ollie.
--
When they get home, Kat gets out her princess calendar and draws a frowny face on the day that episode 8 stops filming.
Then writes Love Ball 09 and a heart on the day after.
