Occasionally, the irony strikes me - I, who hates children in general and never wish to have any, have devoted my entire summer to dealing with children I don't know. Hmmmm.

In other news, I had to go to Greenfield (opposite direction of Indy) for a scholarship presentation today. Lucky Mom - last night we figured out she was missing her brake fluid cap (Dad must not have put it back when he checked it) and apparently you can't drive without it (it screws up the hydraulics, so no brakes). Ford dealerships don't keep them on hand ('cause people don't usually lose those), so I offered to go to the salvage yard out in the boonies while I was in Greenfield.

You know how you always see car junkyards and stuff on bad movies and TV shows? And how it never dawns on you that those places actually exist and that they really are that creepy? Well, they are. This is such stuff as nightmares are made on... even without the ten hungry (literally and figuratively) guys sitting in the office just staring at me, the city girl in the nice clothes, while one guy ran off to get the part. And to make matters better, on the long way back to my car from the "office," I walked past a Camaro whose front axle was actually sitting in its front seat. *shiver*

The good news: I didn't have to drive Amanda's boat around all day. When Mom's car got fixed, I got mine back. :-)
