This is super tentative right now (and will probably be for the next month at least) and i feel like I'm jinxing it by even saying anything about it, but it looks like I might have another major trip lined up for this summer... where? RUSSIA, that's where! too fucking sweet.
Now, I have some scheming to do.

Without a doubt the two coolest things I saw were the Hutang communal-living slums around Beijing (they were soo gorgeous in all their wretched poverty and decay... and at night, after dinner all the people would come out into the communial garden and w/a ghetto blaster running off of batteries - they'd waltz, while the oldmen&ladies played cards on on the street corner. It's like a whole district w/ the cozy communal feel of Joe Cox's carport. I can't really do them justice - but they're definately worth a wikipedia lookup.

The second coolest thing was Shaghai's Bund district at night. The city is a never ending urban sprawl of 360 degrees of skyscrapers through the polution. It's a cyberpunk post-capitalist combo of Metropolis & Blade Running. I didn't think anything like that actualyl existed in reality. I can't see how Tokyo could even compare.
