Project Runway

Almost simultaneously as I watch the first episode of this season's Project Runway from my laptop I am seeing myself as one of the contestants.By nature I am shy, quiet, and introverted. My introversion often makes making a decision unbearably, unfortunately, embarrassingly slow. In this show is manifested the decisions which one has to make everyday to survive. One wrong or late decision can make or brake you. It makes me wish that these people had more time to prove themselves.
I'm not sure exactly how much is edited from the shows but my guess is a lot. This show is in the reality genre but I wonder just how much of the reality is being shown? The contestants are asked to make quick decisions and a lot of things are not within their control.

The benefits of being featured on the show for each contestant are unlimited probably. I just dislike the idea of a panel of three judges arbitrarily deciding the fate of the contestants. Just because Heidi Klum and her sidekicks thinks something is attractive doesn't make it objectively true.

More to come...

- The judges are all on one side and they either like the design or hate it.There is no in between and if there is the person who disagrees with the others is not really focused on.
- The judges want the designers to "be true to themselves" yet they want the designers to bend to their will or accept what they say as objectively true.
- Its all about marketing.
- I wonder if the prize money is gotten from the companies which finance the show. The point of the show might be to "groom" a designer that designs garments that companies want women to buy.
