Well, I guess I'm moving. I have enjoyed Cape Cod, and it's a shame i'm not going to enjoy the summer here again, but i don't have a place to live and the crowds suck anyways. Ive always wanted to live in a big city anyway. Boston, here I come. My best friend Mike K. is currently looking for work here as well. I hope we can live close, he is one of the coolest dudes alive.
So, I had 5 interviews and recieved 4 Job offers. I guess two of the big Crestron contractors closed down and now there is a huge workload dispersed across several companies. Well, now i have two daunting tasks.
1. I have to choose where I will work.
2. I have to tell my current boss I'm leaving.
Now, neither will be easy. Choosing where to work is tearing be up inside. The first offer is great. Overtime pay, office, programmer, laptop, desktop, mileage, organized company. Patriots and Red Socks clietele. But, It's a half hour away and they start at 7 am. Of course, that means im done at 3:30.
The second offer is a tiny bit less money, no ot, but it is a succesfull company just entering custom install. The owner is a really cool guy, older, and reminds me of a college professor. He says I can write my own ticket. So i can make my own job description, I can take the T to work cuz it's only like 4 miles from trish's. But the place is disorganized. I'd head up my own crew. It looks like i might end up making a lot of money there in a year or so. So it would be a sacrifice initially. I can see regrets if the place doesn't get it's act together. I can do well in unorthodox work environments though.
Damn It.
The other places include a work at home place with a commision deal.... not ready for that. a place with that dosent need a programmer, and the last is a new company that might call me back next week, might offer me around 70 thou, but im not sure if i am the guy for them.. looks like high pressure, and i might end up hating my job... don't want that.
The other dilema is that my boss is going to go ape shit when i tell him im leaving. Im his only programmer, so he's going to have to sub out all the programming now, and that cost's a fortune. But fuck him, he's a maniac and he's made it easy for me to make my decision. The only way i'll stay is if he offers me 35 an hour.
Help me make my deciison
