Battlestar Redactica: an alternate season 4.5

Jun 17, 2009 18:45

CVM Productions presents Battlestar Redactica, a fan-edited, non-profit transformative work designed to offer a coherent alternative to the final 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica.

Material from all episodes is incorporated and re-arranged to create new storylines and significantly change many of the emotional emphases.

This project is designed as a celebration and reclaimation of an extraordinary story. When answers reduce rather than inspire, we can always ask more questions.

Anything you find here can be freely redistributed or linked, wherever, whenever, however, although I would take it as a personal favour if you did not take credit for having created it yourself.

My deepest thanks to my friends who supported me in this project and put up with the thousand drafts I threw at them.

Direct Downloads:

The fan-edits can be downloaded from MegaUpload:

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GWAHXJWE - A Fan-edited Mutiny (940 megs approx.)

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8PDREI0Y - A Fan-edited Resurrection (650 megs approx.)

Please let me know if either link goes dead - I will reupload swiftly.

Torrent Support:

Unfortunately, the service I was using to host and seed the .torrent file has ceased offering that service. This means that while I will attempt to seed as I can, the limitations of my connection means that I cannot guarantee a fast or completely reliable downloading experience. However, if you would like to try and download the .zip file it can be found here:

This torrent contains both fan-edits, DVD covers, and any "deleted scenes" I made or modified for the project. It does not contain the mockumentary or the commentaries.

DVD Extra material can be found at the bottom of this post along with relevant download links.

5. DVD Extras.

DVD Covers.

PLEASE NOTE Photobucket automatically resizes images. I am not certain these will still be the correct size for printing. The original files which are the correct size for use on a double-dvd slim case can be donwloaded here:

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PQAXYP6N -- Cover 1; 3mb approx.
http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=774HOFB5 -- Cover 2; 3mb approx.

Deleted & Alternate Scenes.

1. No Exit - Unfilmed Concept (an unfilmed speech for Ellen, illustrated by way of video footage and podcast audio.)

http://anonym.to/?http://megaupload.com/?d=HO5H5FSB -- 20 megs approx.

2. Resurrection - Alternate Scene (an alternate version of an early scene with Starbuck visiting Anders in sickbay.)

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I9VJYHCO - 10 megs approx.

3. The Shape of Things to Come - Deleted Scenes ("deleted scenes" of the future of the Battlestar Redactica universe; seven moments intended to sketch out the edges of what's to come - things that never happened in canon and things that did, but differently.)

http://anonym.to/?http://megaupload.com/?d=CY57P5MC - 40 megs approx.

Audio Commentaries.

These are audio commentaries for both fan-edits. Basically it's me, and occasionally my other half who decided he was going to help, babbling about what I did where and stuff. It's like...half technical commentary, half musings on the show, half Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Yes I know that's 1 and 1/2.

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UYSSPZIE - Mutiny commentary. 15 megs approx.

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HFI3U74F - Resurrection commentary. 10 megs approx.

PLEASE NOTE these are in .wmv format due to size issues. I know that's not terribly Mac-friendly and I apologise. Honestly I doubt many of you will be that interested in this but if for some reason you are, I can upload the HUGE .mp3 files if you really want.

Also, I swear. So don't listen if you're a small puppy or kitten.

A Fan-edited Mockumentary.

Stupidity. That's all this is...

http://anonym.to/?http://www.megaupload.com/?d=94484N4G - 90 megs approx.

Stuff on the DVD Covers that's not here!

Not everything on the DVD sets is provided here. But everything modified by me is provided here. Things that are not provided are:

1. Webisodes.
2. Aired episodes (Sometimes a Great Notion; No Exit).
3. Deleted Scenes from the 4.5 box set (the one in the UK has come out at least). The DVD set is intended to include all of the deleted scenes that do not specifically contradict Redactica-canon. Exceptions were made for things such as extremely brief mutiny moments like those that were already cut from Mutiny, and the Kara/Lee flashbacks that, well, there was nowhere to put, and various Adama-staring-a-paint-and-being-pained moments. The Tory and Boomer flashbacks are included under the pretense that they were cut from No Exit. Most of the scenes were also cut down significantly to get the run-time of the DVD down since often there would be minutes of footage on each side of an extremely short new conversation.
4. What the Frak Recaps. (As seen on the SciFi website.)
5. Music Videos. These are not included because, well, they'd pretty much blow my cover and I'm doing SO WELL at keeping myself anonymous. :/ In the extremely unlikely event that someone out there wants to make their own set of these (I figure pretty much everyone who cares already knows me and I'll be sending you a set anyway), I suggest you collect your own set of Redactica-compatible music videos! :)

6. Catalogue of Edits & Editorial Intentions.

cvm_productions is the journal where any further material or information on the project will be posted.

This post specifically attempts to catalogue the changes made during editing and to provide some clarity with regards to the editorial intentions of the ending. I feel you should be able to interpret the edits in any way you want, but I also figure, maybe some people are interested in what I was aiming for. ;)

...and...that's it. ;)

I love you all.
