The "snick" of Racetrack’s lighter sounded along with the flame in the darkness of the rack. Seelix watched her smoke a black market cigarette, both of them buried in sheets rumpled with their combined sweat.

“I gotta leave. Take some precious pulls while I suit back up.” Racetrack grinned as she flung herself out of the small compartment, barely pausing long enough for Seelix to secure the cigarette. She let it burn away in her fingers for a moment.

“Me too. I have to see a Cylon about the inside of a hood.” Seelix took a tug from the dark brown roll, smoke filling her lungs and pouring from her nose. She wanted to watch Racetrack’s skin disappear under the synthetic material, but her eyes caught on a stray sliver of bone fragment trapped on the grating of the floor. Cleaning hadn’t washed everything away.

“We have to be on the right side, baby. Play the part until it blows over and I can make CAP. We stop playing house with the machines and get back to what’s important.” Racetrack wiggled the last of her body into her flight suit with a smile to reassure Seelix.

Racetrack's hands were on the bulkhead door when Seelix stopped her, asking: “you sure?”

“Yes, this is the right thing and you know it is, so get up. The new President isn’t going to wait while I make you come on my fingers again. We have a revolution to start up.”
