And it's like she's no longer alive. The blood in her veins feels thick and heavy. Caprica had wanted this planet to be her answer. She had needed this planet to hold everything, but instead it drains her. Unable to follow even the simplest of the lines that form the whorls of her fingerprints, Caprica lies in the unyielding dirt. A small tent shields her from the brunt of the cold, but not the harsher effects of the planet.

She hears the tent flap open and then close. She hears the sound of the hesitant steps of an Eight walking into the tent. The sound of plastic crunches and the hollow slap of the cloth against itself take up what little space there is in the makeshift tent. There's no room for her voice in all the noise. Caprica can't bring herself to turn her head; it would take more energy than she wants to use. The hard earth beneath her head is cold and oddly soothing. The Eight remains quiet at the tent's entrance, but Caprica knows when she's being stared at.

The Eight finally opens her mouth to speak, asking how can you be in here after being held captive for so long?

Caprica keeps silent, not caring. The Eight doesn't understand and probably never will. Explaining won't make her comprehend, so Caprica sees no point in trying.

The Eight flatly says I can see it in your face, Caprica. What happened?

Caprica has a patent urge to snap this Eight's neck as well as the last Eight. She would like nothing more than to see that lifeless body collapse to the ground.

The Eight ignores Caprica's non-response by going on with: there's no sign of life here and the radiation has come from nuclear weapons.

Caprica doesn't want to hear it. She can barely think, breathe, exist, yet this Eight wants her to do something, say something, and be something. The Eight's shoes scratch a quick beat into the unforgiving soil, probably ruining the ridiculous strappy sandals that make no sense. Caprica would laugh at the Eight for getting dressed up for such a shit planet, but that too would take energy.

In the distance, a static crinklings signal the amount of radiation, proving the Eight to be truthful. But there was never any doubt in Caprica. As soon as she had stepped out onto the surface she had felt every last echo and wave. Just as the planet had failed her, so would all other things.

She can feel it turning inside of her. The thing is growing and multiplying with every second. It's leeching cells from her body to colonize and take over. It's so tiny, barely alive at all with no blood running through veins not yet developed.

That thing is God's will and love.

The Eight must have grown bored because before leaving she plainly states, at least help with the digging before the humans come to throw you back in.
