How do you wind up a marriage?
There's the bit that's a little like winding up a business - you divide the assets, sort out the paperwork, and wish everyone the best. That's the easy part.
The hard part is winding up your feelings. How do you stop loving someone who you have spent nearly a third of your life with? How do you stop missing the man who is the father of your child?
When I married it was going to be forever. Just me and him. We weren't like those people we read about in newspapers or saw on TV. No, we were in it for the long haul. Our child was never going to have a 'broken home'.
Now those dreams and promises have faded away. We are winding up. I hope, however, that part of this process allows the both of us to pack away the old and move forward with the new.
