I'm still looking for my brain.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY! (aka David Boreanaz) A few years ago, you were a year younger than me, and now you're a year older! Time is funny in Hollywood. *G*

There was so little left of my gray matter to begin with, and now with the BSG super-marathon... the rest seems to have been consumed. I haven't even worked up a response to the SPN finale yet. There's so much I want to say about BSG, it would take me forever, and I definitely like to watch something twice before I really comment, but overall, I loved it. Awesome food for thought, and I have Watchtower going in my head pretty much 24 hours a day now. Great stuff. I just know that I would have been completely junked out over it if I had watched it in real time. As it is, it's the series I've seen recently that has most stuck with me, most kept me thinking, days after it was over.

Which makes me want to start watching from the beginning again RIGHT NOW, but I have other things to do first!

Big news first - TV RENEWALS! Of course, unless things are announced publicly and official, this is all just coming from Ausiello, and he's not ALWAYS right. My comments in red.

Happy News:
Castle: Could go either way. Now a safe bet. Now officially renewed.
Lost: Already renewed.
Ghost Whisperer: Sure thing. Officially renewed. (since it looks like SCC is a goner. :( )
Bones: Sure thing. (Ausiello just Twittered that it's been "unofficially officially" renewed. YAY!)
Dollhouse: Could go either way. Now hearing it's a long shot. Prospects brightening. Now officially renewed for 13 episodes. (And I hear with a greatly reduced budget. I wonder who's gonna get fired, because the sets and effects seem pretty bare bones to me already)
Family Guy: Already renewed.
Fringe: Sure thing. Now officially renewed.
House: Sure thing.
Heroes: Sure thing. Now officially renewed. (I'm actually kind of ambivalent about both this and Lost. Though I've watched and enjoyed, I don't think I would be sad if they were gone. Although I REALLY want to know what happens on Lost, so... slightly less ambivalent there. Have already forgotten the Heroes finale. Oh, right. Now I remember. Meh.)
Supernatural: Already renewed. (w00t!)

Not so Happy News:
The Unusuals: A long shot. (This show has really grown on me. *pouts*)
Harper's Island: It's a goner. (I thought this was a mini-series anyway? Are they not even showing the whole 16 episodes or 12 or whatever they had planned?)
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: A long shot.

And, of course, Kings is already gone, which is sad.

Really, as long as SPN was renewed, I would have been okay.

I'm currently watching Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus. It sounds like it should be so bad it's good, right? I mean, It stars Debbie Gibson and Lorenzo Lamas.

For all the the scenes of, for example, a giant shark jumping out of the ocean to snatch a 747 out of the air for lunch are blissful fun... I just don't know if I'm going to make it until the end. No... I'm at 33:49 and I think it's time to pack it in. Couldn't they just have had a bunch of scenes of the monsters jumping up and eating stuff? That would have been fun. *sigh* So disappointed.

But then there's Otto; or, Up with Dead People. I... don't know exactly what to say besides: gay zombie porn. It's DEFINITELY not for the easily queazy, and it ain't porn in your standard Yay! Gay Porn! kind of way. It's zombie porn interwoven with a weird abstract German flick about a society that has so many zombies, they're sort of run-of-the mill -- or maybe that's all part of the other main character, Medea's, political zombie porn movie. I'm not entirely sure. (Think long and hard about what it would mean for zombies to fuck. Keep flesh eating in mind. Then decide if you want to give it a try). It's funny in a sort of dry, gallows way, and to be honest, I'm not sure I got all the imagery or what the ultimate point was. In fact, I can't decide how seriously we're supposed to take it at all. I mean, Medea (the filmmaker who wants to make a movie about Otto, the zombie) is pretty damn pretentious, and her girlfriend Hella lives in a silent film? (No, seriously. Everybody else is in "normal" color with normal sound, but she's always cast in sepia and has black and white word cards to tell us what she's saying.) And they're both sort of nihilistic neo-victorian goths who like to make out with gravestones shaped like angels. And this "new wave" of zombies are ALL gay, which of course makes them more persecuted than the "usual" waves of zombies. Or maybe that's Medea's film. I keep getting confused between them.

I had to look away a couple of times, it gets that gory and graphic. But then, it gets sad and poignant and a little more twisted in a different way at the end.

Medea: "You had me at 'I am dead.' You have the part."

Otto: "The first thing he did was draw me a bath. I tried to tell him that zombies don't take baths, but he insisted."

Medea: "Now raise your hand up out of the grave. Raise it as a protest against all the injustices perpetrated against your kind. Raise it in solidarity with the lonely, and the weak, and the dispossessed of the Earth. For the misfits, and the sissies, and the plague-ridden faggots who have been buried and forgotten by the merciless, heartless, hetero-fascist majority. Rise. Rise!"

I have to say, it ranks right up there as one of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen. I... think I liked it... *looks sort of baffled*

I think I need to go find some more mainstream fare after that. *G* And hey! My subject line is still relevant! BRAAAAINS!

How are you guys?

otto, bsg
