Ho-di-hum
* I left work about ten minutes earlier today. Caught an earlier bus as a result and got back a whole hour before I've been doing so far this week. Methinks I'll see if I can take ten minutes less at lunch and make it a regular habit.
* I've moved rooms at the hostel. I'm now in a long-term dorm... with a TV and stereo! These aren't provided by the hostel, they were put in and left by previous occupants. But still, I got to see Neighbours so it's all good *g*.
* it's kinda sweet when you tell a friend about something that's happened in your day, you didn't get annoyed at it, just accepted it, dealt with it, and moved on, but said friend gets annoyed on your behalf!
* as if we needed further proof that the Reynolds family are born travellers, my Dad - who has relocated to Norway for a year, coming home alternate weekends - is having way too much fun.
In the evenings I have been exploring the town. The pedestrian is king
here. If a motorist knocks over a pedestrian, the motorist is guilty - no
defence at all. Consequently folk on foot seem to have this death wish, walk
along the pavement and then a quick turn onto the zebra crossing, squeal of
tyres - smiles all round, usually through gritted teeth and everyone goes
their way. This having to give way to pedestrians can cause a real hold up if
there are a string of people turn up one by one for the crossing.
So any questions about where I get my sense of humour from have now been answered!
* I've just had an ice-cream from a place that everyone's been raving about, and I have no idea why they've been doing so. I need something to get the taste of really bad cookies and cream out of my mouth... :o/
* I'm trying out a new internet cafe this time. The one I normally use is $3 for three hours. This one is a $4 deposit, but you get your money back for time you don't use. A couple of hours therefore costs you about $2-ish. But the computers are slower and the place doesn't have the nice cosy feel the other one has. Also they're playing old music. We've just had "Stand by Me" so it's not all bad, and "Tamborine Man" has just kicked in, but that's about it for the good stuff...
