I only write in the journal when I am satisfied with my life. Yeah, I write about annoyances, but only small ones. For some reason, when I'm really upset about something, I stop writing in my journal completely. This also happens when i'm really busy, so don't read too much into my "months" away for LJ.
Time to explain what has been going on.
Basically, my winter break has been extended significantly due to forces beyond my control. For those of you who don't know, I was supposed to be home for only three weeks, and go back to Moscow on January 8th. As it is, this is quite a long time away from work. But due a mix of bad luck and the poor service of Russian companies, I legally cannot go back to Russia yet. See, I needed a new russian (work) visa. And to get a visa, you need a letter of invitation from a company. I prepared for this early on in November, and was told I would get the letter on December 15th (while I was still in Moscow). Then it changed to December 19th, right after I came home. I was told it would be sent urgent by DHL. From Russia, this takes maybe 3 days. December 24th rolls around and I still don't have it. I send some e-mails, was told they didn't have my address, sent them my address. Don't get a response. Two weeks of e-mailing go by and still no response. See, the Russians love holidays like everyone else in the world. But unlike most of the world, the entire nation shuts down for at least 10 days. Yes, I'm exaggerating. But not so much. The russian courier service used to ship my document (the letter of inviation) closed for the holidays. Not only did they close, but they didn't open until January 12th!!!! Let me remind you, this is an express service. There was an official 10-day holiday at this time, but c'mon. You don't see other companies like Fed-Ex or DHL (which they didn't use) closing for more than a day, if even. My document didn't leave Moscow until the 12th, and I just got it Friday. I thought it might be late, but not a month late! So now I have to get my work visa, wait 6 days before entering the country (by law), and I already changed my plane ticket twice, soon to be 3 times! Lots of money has been spent, and I lost almost a month of work and rent money.
I love you all, but I want to go back to Russia to make some $$$$$$ (or roubles) and to stop wasting my rent money!
But since I won't be going back yet, feel free to make plans with me! There are still lots of people I haven't seen. I'm going to NY mon/tues to get my visa, but i'm free after that!
