What is the reason(s) you haven't participated in Amtgard much since you moved out here?
Oh there are a few reasons, If I had to rank them it would be.
1. Amtgard was getting unhealthy for me. To much time spent thinking about the game and to little time spent on other things. That’s not a fault of the game only me.
2. Burnout, 10 years in the game its time for a break. I always figure that I will get the bug again but till then I am not going to force it.
3. I was / am bit pissed off about not getting a belt. Not sure what more I could have done to earn one. I don’t like how that made me think / feel i.e. I really hate people who think they are entitled to stuff and the stress of expectation (is this the court I am going to get knighted? Type stuff) and the rollercoaster of emotions that went with it was not healthy for me. So I decided that I needed to stop going after something that was not healthy for me and focus on more productive things.
4. Lazy, I don’t like to drive that much. I know its pathetic.
What goals do you have in life?
Oh I have a few:
1. Make good on my promise to Frances Grandfather that I would take care Frances .
2. Enjoy life.
3. Improve my self
4. Become a leader in something.
If you could change three things about Amtgard what would they be?
Hmmm really I would change very little, For all my bitching about Amtgard it runs very well. Its a great club with a ton of great people. But I would change a few things.
1. Make Amtgarders no so fricken cheap. There is nothing that steams me more than some one bitching about how pricy an event is. 35 bucks for a weekend event is nothing when you get 3-5 meals, camping, entertainment and all the amtgard you can shake two padded sticks at. 5 dollars in dues are nothing most clubs have dues in the 50-2000 dollar range per year.
2. Get some respect for the service people of amtgard. I think there is a HUGE lack of respect for those that give up there fun time for the betterment of the club. I know anyone who has been in office knows what I am talking about. Finding good help is hard as hell and the only time some one remembers who did service is when something goes wrong.
3. Make every one in amtgard understand that there are very few conspiracies, star chambers or agendas. So that they could then get over themselves and learn to play along with each other. I have seen that same stupid misunderstandings blow up into hurt feelings and split parks/kingdoms over and over again. Worse yet after the tiff most people become close friends. Seems to me there is a huge wasted step.
