From the MOTD list
“For those other religions how do you show your faith if not by your
works.”
This was just the catalyst that inspired me to rant, it has nothing to do with the person writing the question or even amtgard in general. Please take ONLY the line in quotes as what I am replying to, not the person who wrote it, or the on going idea(s) that spawned it. As they are totally unrelated.
I guess I don’t really see the need to show my faith to anyone. Faith is my path to knowing what is out there, be that god, the tao, the way, Jehovah, enlightenment or the flying spaghetti monster. I know enough to know that I do not know the truth, My experience is that the truth is different for everyone. My path is my own, Only I can walk it, and my path is not yours. Why should I show it to others, there are no milestones, no roadmaps showing distance traveled or estimates to the goal. It is not a race or a game, no one is in the lead there are no winners. Faith is not a badge that makes one better than the other.
The question I have is why do you need to show others your faith? Are you showing other people or are you showing god?
And to bible thumpers out there calling me a sinner for not going to church on Sunday.
Funny isn’t it that Jesus prayed more outside the temple then in it?
