Ethical Dilemma

I am really sick of my mother asking me to 'help her out' when it comes to things involving her work/her boss.

My mother works for an ultra-conservative liberal MP, who, whilst a very charming/pleasant man, has certain views and ideas that I am frankly absolutely appalled by (best example being that he sincerely believes that homosexuality is a disease that can be cured...I mean really...what?).

So when she asks me to do things, like go down her way tomorrow to pose for a photoshoot with this man, which will be used as promotional material in his upcoming campaign, I am faced with a difficult decision. On the one hand, she's my mother, and as she points out, helping her out means that he is more likely to get re-elected which means she is more likely to have a job. On the other, I really do feel like I am compromising my personal beliefs by supporting a man with whom I do disagree with quite strongly on certain pretty key issues.

I told her 'no', like I always tell her, and now she's pissy with me because she doesn't understand how lending my name/face/whatever to something like that is ethically challenging for me.

Ugh.
