December NYSEG bill: ~$200
January  NYSEG  bill:  ~ $400!!WHAT?! We are paying the same as we did last year when gas prices were over $4/gallon and our heater was 70% less efficient. We even actually turned out thermostat DOWN a couple degrees towards the end of December, so what happened over the last month?? I know! NYSEG decided to arbitrarily double everyone's heating bill, even though gas costs are still low, so they can make out like bandits for the winter season. Add another wing to the mansions of the corporate head honchos---recession-proofing themselves while digging the rest of us further into the ground. Greedy f**kers.  Is it not enough that they are one of the most expensive utility providers in the country ?

"Under the proposal submitted today, which needs approval from the state Public Service Commission,
the average electric bill would increase $8.80 per month, or 9.9 percent, and the average gas bill would
increase $12.20 per month, or 8.8 percent.  That’s a $21 increase for the average gas and electric customer."

$21??!!! TRY TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS! A less than 10% increase, huh? WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE OF ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT! Thank you, thank you for f**king our town, New York State Electric and Gas, I hope you choke on your bond rating. And die.

I am pissed. With NYSEG and with our state government for voting on allowing exorbitant rate increases.

And I love how we have no choice but to accept NYSEG's costs if we want heat; they are the only gas/elec company in the region.

**Note to self: having an apartment w/o utilities included is too expensive, no matter how cheap the rent is. You can't collect blood from a stone... but you can shut off its heat and watch it freeze until it cracks.  I am so upset.

rant, utilities
