The "Yay" part of my day:
Our school district called in an early dismissal due to freezing rain! So I'm receiving a full day's pay, for half a day's work (woo-hoo, I love Snow Days). I suspect we'll have a full Snow Day tomorrow if the weather forcast comes true tonight (hope, hope, hope).
The "Boo" part of my day:
About a half hour before we were being dismissed (so at 11am), some little turd must have pulled the fire alarm. Hence, the whole school had to march outside, WITHOUT COATS in the freezing rain/sleet and wait for the fire trucks and police to arrive. Then wait for them to give the "all clear" to come back inside. All-in-all, it was about 20 minutes. 20 freezing minutes of suck. But the ordeal made my walk home from work (with my coat, hat and scarf on) seem like a summer stroll.
The "Uh-huh, Weird" part of my day:
Sometime in between the early dismissal announcement and the fire non-drill, I got a call from the office informing me that a woman from some day care wanted to know if I needed extra time to pick up my kid. Me: "Um. Day care what now? Wait, who am I taking a message for?" Office Lady: "uhh, do you have a kid in day care?" Me: "NOPE, no kid!" Office Lady: "Huh, ... well..., the reception was bad, so I probably just misheard who she wanted to contact."
Yeah, I may be absent minded at times, but I'm pretty sure having a young child at home would be a particularly vivid memory---one I couldn't forget.
I'd say "especially the giving birth part", except that if I ever have kids, I plan on making the doctors drug me into a stupor; I dont care if my baby is born high on epidural and whatever else I can get the doctors to give me, that's just how it's going to be. ;-)
