Summary: Rachel Berry is the girl.
A/N: I started writing this instead of taking notes in my neuroscience class…haha. It was kind of difficult to push along at some points, so hopefully it doesn’t show too much. I’m glad I got a positive response to the last one, I hope this one doesn't disappoint! Again, any constructive feedback is welcome.

THE CHEERIOS

Quinn drove herself back to the school and stormed into the locker room to find Santana sitting on a bench, already there waiting for her.

“Sup, Q?” Santana said as she rose to her feet.

Quinn felt the anger boiling inside of her. How dare she get to Rachel first. She squared her shoulders and walked swiftly up to the Cheerio and delivered a hard slap right to her face. “The girl is mine. Back off.”

The Latina’s eyes widened with shock. “What the hell are you talking about?” she shouted puffing up her chest and stepping up to get into Quinn’s face.

“Berry. Leave her alone.” Quinn was not intimidated and stepped forward, closing the space between them even more.

“You have got to be kidding me. Don’t tell me that you have a thing for her,” Santana said rolling her eyes.

“So what if I do? You just need to back down.”

“Or what? You think I’m scared of you?” Santana shoved the blonde’s shoulders. “First you go for Puck, and now you’re trying for Rachel? You just can’t stand to see me with someone, can you? Or maybe you just love my sloppy seconds,” she said shoving the girl again.

“Oh, that’s it!” Quinn launched herself onto the other girl, knocking her to the ground. She sat up so she was straddling the other girl and grabbed her by the shoulders slamming her to the ground again.

Santana wasn’t just going to take this so she punched Quinn in the chest and knocked her over so she could get up. However, as she was trying to stand Quinn reached up to grasp her ponytail and brought her back down to the ground on top of her. The two rolled around on the ground trading scratches, slaps and punches until Quinn managed to get up and start to move away from the very feisty and very pissed of Latina. But she didn’t move fast enough because Santana grabbed her by the back of her shirt, ripping it off and pulling her back down to the ground before jumping back on top of her.

Around this time is when Brittany came strolling into the locker room, humming a song and looking for the friend that had texted her wanting to meet. She heard the clattering lockers and what sounded like grunting and growling coming from the other part of the locker room. She headed over that way only to find a shirtless Quinn being topped by a sweaty Santana whose hair was down hanging around her face. Her breath hitched. What was going on? she wondered. Was this what Quinn had wanted to talk about? She stood and stared for a moment, more dumbfounded now than she had ever been in her life. “Q…” she started, upset by what she could only assume was going on between the other two Cheerios.

Both girls stopped immediately upon hearing Brittany’s voice. Quinn looked up from the ground and Santana turned from where she was on top of Quinn, both sporting a look that could only be described as a “deer in headlights”.

“B,” Santana spoke first. “What are you doing here?”

“Q texted me. She said she needed to talk. I didn’t think it’d be about you. I should go,” she said turning to leave the locker room.

Quinn pushed Santana off of her and raced over to Brittany, gently grabbing her wrist. “It’s not what you think, Britt. We all three need to talk…about Rachel.”

Brittany turned around, glancing back and forth between the other girls. She’d been caught and she was sure that they would begin to tease her about her crush on the little diva. “She’s hot. I can’t help that. And I’m hot, so it makes sense for us to get together.”

Santana’s jaw dropped at this. “You too? Oh. My. God. I can’t fucking believe this,” she groaned as she pushed herself up off of the ground.

“Me…too?” Now Brittany definitely didn’t know what was going on.

“B, all of us went for Berry today…” Quinn trailed off, ending her though prematurely as she suddenly wondered what exactly the other two had done with Rachel before she had taken her home. Santana had definitely given her a hickey, but she wasn’t sure what all had happened during that period of time. The three of them stood in silence for a moment trying to process the madness of the situation. The three hottest and most popular girls in school were here, in the locker room fighting over the social pariah of McKinley High.

Brittany’s eyes shot up to Santana, suddenly feeling very angry. “So, that’s who you broke up with me for? I can’t believe you!”

“Shut up, you went for her too, so you have no room to talk. And, it’s not like it matters because our Queen Bee here thinks that she already owns the girl.”

“You know what, S, you’re just jealous ‘because you could never compete with me and you know it.”

The three girls began screaming at each other, none of them hearing what the others were saying as they competed to shout over the noise, hoping to be the one to be heard. After a minute Quinn caught Santana off guard and shoved her with a firm and forceful push, sending the girl flying down to the ground.

As Santana jumped up and launched forward, her arm pulled back ready to swing another punch, Brittany grabbed her and stopped her. “Stop it,” she said stepping between them. “I have an idea. Why don’t we just let Rachel choose which of us she likes the most?”

The other girls looked at Brittany with matching surprised expressions. Her suggestion actually made sense and they both felt embarrassed for having never even considered asking the singer about who her preference might be.

“That is actually a really good idea,” Quinn said, tone revealing that she was a little upset that it had come from Brittany and not from herself.

Santana shot a glare to Quinn and mumbled her agreement. “How are we going to do that though?”

“Uh…” Brittany’s face went blank. “I hadn’t really thought of that yet…”

Quinn’s face drifted into a devious grin as a thought entered her mind. “I have an idea…”

RACHEL

The next day Rachel looked around the school watching and waiting for something to happen to make sense of the previous day. But nothing came. No slushies or laughing jocks and, much to her disappointment, no surprise kisses from cheerleaders. She hadn’t even seen any of the Cheerios throughout the school day. By the end of the day Rachel had given up her search for answers and figured that either the previous day had been a fluke, or she had foiled the plan that was being made against her by confronting Quinn about it. She wasn’t sure if she actually felt good about it though. She had really hoped for something to happen, anything would have been better than having the world act like absolutely nothing had happened. Feeling a little defeated she made her way to glee club to sit and sulk as the three cheerleaders would probably go back to pretending she didn’t exist, just like they always did.

As she stepped in the door, though, she noticed something very different immediately. The three cheerleaders weren’t sitting at their normal spots and, as far as she could see, they weren’t even in the room. This sucks, she thought, taking a seat in the front as Mr. Schuester stepped up in front of the class.

“Okay everyone, sit down because we have a special treat to start you off today. A few of your group members took it upon themselves to practice some songs that they want to share with you guys. Hopefully this will get you all as pumped as they are, and maybe it’ll be good inspiration for what we should do next!” He turned his back to the class and with a wave of his arm said, “Take it away, girls!”

The music started playing as the cheerleaders that had been absent all day entered the room to take their places in front of the piano. As Brittany was stepping forward the drums kicked in and she opened her mouth to sing.

“You used to stand off to the right of me
I'd look in your direction we'd agree
I used to sing to you
Sub-sonic blues,” she sang as she stepped up in front of Rachel leaning forward to look her in the eyes. She smiled and rose back up to continue singing. Rachel could feel her heart beat picking up as she realized that this song was, in fact, directed at her.

“You had a far-away look in your eye
Your soul was strutting in its earth disguise
My music moved in you
Boom, Boom, Boom.” Brittany did a little spin so that her back was turned to Rachel and shook her hips with the music as she sang the last line. Rachel’s face was definitely turning red at this point. This was not what she had expected. The tall blond turned back around and with a wink she continued to sing her heart out to the small brunette in front of her. By this time the rest of the glee kids were beginning to stare at Rachel with a look of utter disbelief.

“And at the perfect moment you would go and up light up the room.” Brittany’s eyes lit up as she caught Rachel’s stare and she leaned forward so that they were nose to nose.

“Can you feel it now?
Can you feel it now?
Can you feel it now?
Can you feel it now?”

After the last "can you feel it now" Brittany stood back up with a smile and the music suddenly shifted into a different beat and rhythm. The guitar that had been playing slowly faded and the drums came back even louder and with a much quicker rhythm. This was definitely not the same song, and apparently it wasn’t the same singer because Santana came strutting forward, taking her place in the center of the choir room where Brittany had previously been.

“Oh the clever things I should say to you,
they got stuck somewhere, stuck between me and you.
Oh, I'm nervous. I don't know what to do!
Light a cigarette, I only smoke when I'm with you!
What the hell do I do this for? You're just another guy!
Okay, you're kind of sexy. But you're not really special.”

With the phrase “okay, you’re kind of sexy” Santana approached Rachel and placed her hands on the diva’s knees, leaning forward to breathe on her neck. She mumbled the line about not being special, knowing that the opening to this song wouldn’t win Rachel’s heart, but the content of the song definitely expressed what she was feeling when she looked at the girl.

“But I won't mind if you take me home, come on, take me home!
I won't mind if you take off all your clothes come on, take them off,” she sang with a wink still close to Rachel.

Santana stood back up and walked backwards, still maintaining eye contact to see if the other brunette was reacting at all. And she definitely was. Her face had gone from a light pink to a full flush of red when the suggestion of getting naked was made. Rachel felt unbelievably embarrassed that all of these songs were being directed at her, but at the same time it made her feel amazing, being serenaded by these girls. She felt herself beginning to tingle between her legs and she realized that being sung to was definitely a huge turn on. Santana continued to sing, now smirking also because she could tell by the look on Rachel’s face that she was getting to her.

“Cause I like you so much better when you're naked!
I like me so much better when you're naked!
I like you so much better when you're naked!
I like me so much better when you're naked. Yeah!”

Mr. Schuester was about to protest this part of the song, seeing as it was definitely not school appropriate, as well as because he and the other members of the glee club, aside from Rachel, were completely lost about what was going on. This was not what anyone had expected. He stepped toward the girls, but right as he did so the music changed again and Santana exchanged spots with the last Cheerio left to sing. It stayed very upbeat, but it was definitely different than before.

Quinn looked directly into the eyes of the girl before her as she began to sing.

“Hey, hey, baby
I wanna know if you'll be my girl.
Hey, hey, baby
I wanna know if you'll be my girl.”

The lyrics were familiar, but sang in a completely different way than what she was used to. The song was peppy and full of energy. Rachel definitely knew this song, as Dirty Dancing was one of her favorite films of all time. She had memorized every word to the film when she was in sixth grade, hoping that she would find a love like the one between Johnny and Baby. She blushed realizing that her inner sixth grader was urging her to launch forward and wrap her arms around the head cheerleader’s neck and never let go. She managed to maintain her composure, but Quinn definitely saw the excitement and desire in Rachel’s eyes, which only pushed her to sing with more passion.

“When I saw you walking down the street,
I said that she's the kind of girl I like to meet.
She is so pretty, look she's fine,
I'm gonna make her mine, oh, mine!” As she sang this line, the look on Quinn’s face was one that solidified the words, and made sure that Rachel knew it was a guarantee that she would stop at nothing to win her heart. She began to dance around, jumping in time with the music as she continued to sing.

“Hey, hey, baby
I wanna know if you'll be my girl.
Hey, hey, baby
I wanna know if you'll be my girl!”

At that line Quinn took Rachel’s hand and the music faded away slowly, and Quinn repeated the last three words one last time very quietly, keeping her eyes locked with Rachel’s. Rachel knew that the blush that had started with Brittany and spread with Santana had definitely morphed into a full body blush. Every inch of her skin was on fire. Her heart was pounding and her palms were sweating. She couldn’t bring herself to do anything but look longingly into Quinn’s hazel eyes.

The entire room was silent, everyone was at a loss of words because no one quite understood what had just happened. Finally, Mike began clapping and shouted a small “woo!” to the three girls who had just performed. Everyone began to join in, clapping and smiling and cheering, even Mr. Schuster. Whatever it was that had just happened, it was definitely a lot of fun.

Quinn let go of the hand she was still holding and stood up to stand with her fellow Cheerios, still keeping her eyes locked on Rachel.

“That was…amazing girls. You all had such passion in what you were singing about.” Mr. Schuster grinned a wide grin as he turned to the cheering audience, “that’s what I’m talking about! Everyone needs to find something like this for themselves. That’s your assignment for the week, reach deep down inside yourself and pull out whatever it is that you’re feeling and get together a number that will pump everyone up!”

He continued talking for a while longer but Rachel didn’t hear a word that he said, her focus directed at the three girls that were still standing at the front of the room. She had been sitting silently the whole class period and still couldn’t find the words to speak. Three cheerleaders had just taken turns singing about wanting to be with her in one way or another. This was something she had never expected to happen, and as such she was not adequately prepared for how to handle the whole situation. Each girl had something different and interesting to offer her, and they all seemed to truly want something with her. It felt amazing, but at the same time overwhelming. Her body was shaking nervously as she thought about what she should do. She didn’t even know if she could decide between the three girls, and what if she made a choice and it turned out to be the wrong one, what was one supposed to do in that situation? As he finished what he was talking about, she stood and walked over to the girls, who had now sat down. “I wish that I would have known that the three of you were planning on serenading me. Had I know, I would have been adequately prepared for how to react to your songs and I would have also been able to create a mash up of my own, using various songs to sing to the three of you. I think that it would only be fair-”

Santana cut her off, “Berry, stop rambling. I think she surprise song attack worked pretty well.”

Brittany nodded, “yeah, it was cool seeing you so speechless. Definitely cute.”

Quinn grinned at Brittany’s words, “Yeah, I have to agree.” She paused and looked up into the dark chocolate eyes that had once again shifted their focus onto her. “So, whose song did you like best? You get to pick the winner, you know.”

Rachel’s face went from red to a slight pale color. She hadn’t really considered that she was actually supposed to judge the performances of these girls and choose one to be her suitor. She smiled, she could definitely make this work for her. “I’m not entirely sure that you each singing a small piece of different songs is enough to judge your ability to woo me. You were all amazing, but in different ways, and I’m just not sure that I know which is the best yet.”

The three Cheerio’s smiled. They knew what was coming and that their competition for Rachel Berry was not yet over. “Well, I think that we need to work harder then,” Quinn said with a smile.

Rachel smiled her devious smile and nodded. Oh yes, this would definitely work.
