Okay, I was in the exact same spot you are in about...two years ago. I had a bunch of unfinished fics over on FFnet and hadn't written anything in almost a year. But I had JUST gotten into the Twilight fandom and found myself itching to write. And here's how I looked at it: None of my old fics were going to get finished whether I started writing Twific or not. I just didn't follow my old fandoms anymore, so I wasn't inspired to write for them.

But I was also worried about readers not trusting me to be able to finish what new project I began. So I started posting chapters of my new multi-chap Twific on LJ, and I started posting them on Twilighted. Along the way I found myself writing one-shots, and I allowed myself to post those on FFnet because they were completed as is. And then, Once I had 3/4 of my multi-chap Twific done, I started posting chapters on FFnet because I knew for sure that I was going to finish what I'd started this time. I also made sure to put up a note on my FFnet profile explaining my incomplete stories and promising my commitment to my new work.

So far, everything has run smoothly. I say that if writing is what you want to do, go for it. :)
