Tell Me Your Deepest Desires

What's shakin', bacons? I can't remember the last time we had a general discussion about semi-arbitrary things, so let's do it.

A lot of us have been in this fandom for months and even years now and have been reading/writing J/B fanfic for almost as long. So hundreds of fics later, what's left? What are the plots that you would like to see done or ( Read more... )

I love babies! There are not enough Jacob/Bella babies in the world. :)

Along those lines, I'd like to see a fic where Bella survives Renesmee's birth.

I'm also morbidly interested in seeing the fall out (imprint or no imprint) for Jacob and Bella (and sure, the Cullens, whatever) when Renesmee grows up to be a monster. Because seriously, no child can have that combination of power, intelligence, and seven-year-old in an 18-year-old's body and not wind up being a literal psychopath.

But I'm also dark.

I really want there to be a fic where Bella deals with, honestly, having missed out on being a mother because Nessie goes from baby to teenager to adult in the blink of an eye. So Bella is frozen in time, and her daughter is on hyperspeed, and surely that must be strange.
And this would make the "perfect family" create by SM explode. And I would love!

I totally agree. The only time I wrote fic with Renesmee in it, she was a total diva who cared little for anything but herself...and she turned Jacob into the town drunk which all the rest of the guys tried to hide as much as possible. Granted, it was grownup!Claire/Quil fic to start, but the image of the only way Claire had ever known him was as someone who said weird things and always slept on someone else's couch and told her even things that were meant to be would break her heart...I had this sensory MOMENT of the clinking of beer bottles and hushed voices and it was SAD but something I totally see happening. I took the lighter route in making her a self-centered bitca instead of crazy!monstergirl, but crazy!monstergirl is pretty much the only other way I'd buy it. Esp with her "family" - can we say "no discipline" a little louder?

I normally think of Renesmee as little as possible. As in, never. But you guys are absolutely right. What the hell would Renesmee grow up to be? (Besides perfect if left in SM's hands.) Someone take the bait....I'd love to read that. We must have some Psych majors out there?

I try not to read anything with Renesmee but I read this one shota bit ago, I think it was here or on sortofbeautiful where she was very dark. I agree with you, She gets painted in this light where she is the perfect angel but I can see her totally being a psychopath.

You know, I actually think Jacob would end up being the levelling force in Renesmee's life (but then I subscribe to the idea that being what an imprint wants would be a bit more subtle and complicated that what Meyer thinks it to be- her version removes self-preservation, and no shape-shifting force would survive that; their genes would be wiped out). Without someone as grounded as him, she'd go completely nuts. I don't think the Cullens (Bella included) would really know what to do with her, beyond the spoiling; none of them have had contact with children in decades (some, like Edward, I can imagine have never had any interaction with children), Bella's an only child with no younger cousins etc. to speak of. She'd be just as useless. Compare that to Jacob who grew up in a communal-esque environment, where I can imagine he'd have been conned into babysitting a fair number of times (or even just helping out his sisters). He seemed pretty good with Claire in 'Breaking Logic', too. We only get to see him blinded by imprinting in the book ( ... )
