Dude, Christmas cannot come quickly enough. Sadly, the holiday has gone from being a celebration of the birth of my savior to a couple days off from work. I need to work on that, and I'm hoping I'll be able to adjust my attitude accordingly before tomorrow.
Work was brutal today, as it has been most days since Winter hit, but there was a bright spot I can focus on. My manager Dede (Pronounced Dee-dee) pulled me aside to wish me well at St. Joseph and to tell me that I'm making the right move (!) and that they're going to take great care of me there. Apparently, she worked for the same organization that operates St. Joseph before she moved here from Washington to take this gig, and she really appreciated the way she was treated and how they took care of business. She ended by telling me that I've got the kung fu to do well in this business and that I "really brought a spark to the ER." I gotta admit, I was pretty stoked to hear all of that. Not that I have any apprehension about the move, but the reassurance was cool.
Speaking of work, Debbie, one of my favorite coworkers, could use some help. She apparently went to be treated at the Circus late last night w/a ripping fever and a hard, distended abdomen. They cut her open to make sure she wasn't obstructed (And the story has it that she wasn't), then admitted her so they could keep an eye on her. Sometime this morning, her blood pressure tanked so she's now in the Unit and they aren't allowing any visitors.
Debbie is a sweetheart who's been my main partner in crime since I started at the Circus almost a year ago. She taught me a lot and really helped me make the transition from the field to the ER. Please help me out here and keep her in your prayers this Christmas. Thanks.
