I gave Ouran Host Club another try. Now I've tried to read the manga, tried to watch the sub, and tried to watch the dub. I still don't get what the huge fanspaz draw was. It's watchable, but not particularly enjoyable. Bo suggested that it was one of the only harem comedies to be released stateside in a long time and one that featured the girl as the love interest rather than the other way around. I could see that. And there was gratuitous twincest, but other than that fanservice, what was the draw?
Is it one of those things, like Hetalia, that the fanon makes the series? Huh.
Speaking of contemplating anime, nockergeek and I have been watching Genshiken 2. I can't begin to express how much of a fan I am of this series. I literally melt at some moments and am giddy at others. I think because Genshiken is so relatable it has special access to my fangirl buttons.
