Death from above

I woke up from my nap today to a severe thunderstorm with hail that went quickly from pea-sized to clusters as big around as a half dollar coin at the worst. I'm glad our car was elsewhere at the time, though I do hope it didn't do much damage to the new roof. Along with the hail we got last night, we're going to wear down these 30 year shingles in no time!

Sadly, I saw an old tree completely uprooted from the storm last night. The old oak looked like it had been hollowed out by bugs, though, so I'm not really surprised. But still, the thing was about as thick as I am tall. I hate seeing old trees like that go.

It's been a treat of storms today. I think this is the wettest summer I remember since the floods in the early 90's. It's definitely the wettest since I moved to this side of the state. My flowers have to be loving all of this rain.
